It's so nice to see how beasts like Kidd and Marion show their gratitude for that, as well as Tyson and Terry who were always starter caliber players in the league but they know that being supporters to Dirk was the best decision they made. I'm from Dallas a grew up a mavs fan in the 80s. In the 90s the Mavs where downright unwatchable and the Spurs got really good and I couldn't help but become a fan. During the 2000s rivalry I leaned more towards the Mavs but god those matchups where awesome! Even the blowouts. Just pure excellence on both sides of the ball.

As a Mavs fan, i'm a big Manu fan lol, and can't forget about David Robinson as well. But one thing Isaac, that I wish I could of done, was to watch Manu vs Dirk in San Antonio, I mean the drive from Dallas to SA isn't that long, but it ain't short neither lol.

A lot of respect between Dallas and San Antonio. Rooted in the fact that David Robinson is such a great human being that Mavs fans were incapable of hating on the Spurs in the 90s and then the spurs won with so much class and the Mavs and Mavs fans respected them for it and they continually for 13 years battled it out as both teams won 50+ each year but neither had an edge on the other and neither wanted to end up in a series against the other. Spurs even being the better team just never mattered because dirk was going to have their number and Dallas was going knew the spurs play style better than anyone in the league. Every single game that Duncan and Dirk played against each other was a real battle going on. And neither fan base was going oh f that guy etc etc , we just enjoyed the moment. It’s great Dallas got a ring and it’s great that the state of Texas has had so many championship series played in it.

I hated the spurs growing up but I always had respect for Duncan.
