not knowing about his personal life, I hated Malone because of his flopping. the biggest guy on the court falling on his back from a touch, complaining to the refs, all the while handing out sneaky dirty foul after dirty foul.

I'd say the thing about Magic and HIV is one of the few positive things that Karl Malone used his Karl Malone-ness for. I never saw Vernon Maxwell or Xavier McDaniel play without landing a cheap shot or trying to start a fight. Both were good players and both are articulate when commenting on basketball -- Off court they seem like nice guys. Once Vernon ("Mad Max") was about to stab Hakeem in the locker room with a piece of broken glass when the police charged in with guns drawn. Xavier seemed genuinely disgusted by players who tried to walk away from a fight (like Scotty Pippen) and he would just pound on them all game long.

nah nah nah he is probably the most hated for having the most signature flops in NBA history. Lets be serious, it would take a tank or mac truck to move this guy from inside the key and he would barely get bumped by someone Isaiah's size flail around like he got fouled. The term flop should have Karl Malone's picture in the dictionary. Was he a great player yes, but when you constantly have to act to get to the free throw line it gets old. As the video shows you he was kind of a dirty player but nowhere near Laimbeer levels.

A quick google search... Lebron James is the most hated athlete of this generation, not only in the NBA, but all of sports. You can start with him leaving teams every time he faces a roadblock to winning rings, the flopping and whining, a 6-9 250lb grown man flopping on 6'0 guards that he outweighs for 50 to 60 lbs, his prioritizing of garbage stats over wins, alienating and trading young players before they develop, then destroying franchises because of poor roster decisions and lack of young talent development, always asking for more help even if he has 1 or 2 all-star teammates who can explode for 50 points in any given night, walking out and giving up on the game and leaving his teammates behind, chocking on close out games especially on crucial free throws, scoring 7 and 8 points in a postseason game - simply choking, building a team of old all-star players then missing the playoffs entirely, self-proclaiming himself as king and goat when nobody in the history of the game has ever claimed it before, not Kareem, not Magic, not Bird, not Michael, only the narcissist LeFlop. It is so bad that LeFraud fans are being called Bronsexuals for completely disregarding his failures, especially when his greatness is based on cherry-picked achievements and stats and not seeing the full picture. I guess only fellow narcissists love this guy. Recently, he was booed at the Super Bowl. I've never seen a top athlete booed in any big event.

The 13 year old girl is obviously wrong but you've gotta realise where Karl came from, this was nothing particualry unusual in the place he grew up. A lot of older country guys did the same, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis. Not defending it but it wasn't as unusual to people in that area at that time, especially if you grew up poor. It was still thought of as wrong, but not nearly as wrong as it is today. I also don't think there's anything wrong with Malone said about Magic, he really believed he could catch aids that way. It's not like he was trashing Magic as a man, he really just thought it was possible.
