Finally got a bottle. Searched it out because of this review, long road to find one. Sent the company an email, they sell it in Seattle, the distributor contacted me and sent me one to my favorite store in Tacoma. Awesome guys and I really liked the scotch. Can’t wait to see what they release next.

I have tried a couple of Mc'Nean whiskies, and they deliver big time. They're not overly complex drams, but simply delicious.

Going to Scotland and trying their new make/young whiskey gave me a new appreciation for climate and it's effect on aging. For me, bourbon is a distinct transformation of white dog. You put in A and you get Z. Scotch tastes like new make that has evolved. You put in A and you get C - you can see the path the new make took. I greatly prefer it. One I got to try was Caisteal Chamuis no age statement, that was a fantastic blend of scotch with some age and some scotch with mere months of age - it solidified these thoughts.

In Saratoga Springs, New York, there’s a place called ‘First Fill’. They have it. If you’re ever in that town, check them out. You can really nerd out in there. Just happened to buy this very bottle two days ago.

Good to see this distillery get a mention, that small triangle of Scotland consisting of Tobermory, NcNean, and Ardnamurchan is doing some interesting things. I work at Tobermory myself, if you ever plan a visit to that area I'd love to see you there and might just a have a dram or two for you.

I was really bummed at first by the change to the format. However I have turned out to really enjoy this and realized the old format was getting a little stale. Well done Daniel. And Rex and Briana (sp?) on the Tribe channel.

I hear lot of bourbon barrels being used but I rarely hear about rye barrels being used. Question: when they say “American” barrels, can that be any barrel, including rye, or is it implied to be bourbon. Question2: what usually happens to rye barrels after usage?

It's almost always bourbon. I'm actually not sure about the Rye barrels

Hey 👋 I'm Matt, I'm the blender at Nc'nean. To answer your question, our American whiskey casks are a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon, and ex-American whiskey casks (something that's been used twice; once for Bourbon, then for American whiskey, then come to us). And for question 2, we do have some ex-Rye casks at Nc'nean, but they're not used in our flagship whisky. There are other Scottish distilleries that take in large numbers though, Raasay being a good example.

It’s not hard to find here, but the price is not right for a 3 year old. There’s also a few other Nc´Nean bottles, but they are even more expensive. ($80-$130) I’ll rather spend my money on a Mortlach 15 Single Cask or a Nadurra Cask Strength 😉

This was one of those whiskys I really liked, before I saw the price. If you can find a bottle at around the $50, snag it up, great stuff. But at the prices I've seen it listed it's not quite what I'm looking for
