Nice demo and walk through, Jeff! Such things are out of my realm of experience, so it is cool to learn!

Thanks Anthony, it's as much for documenting for my own recollection as anything, but I enjoy sharing as well. 🙂

Jeff, I am sorry it has taken me so long to answer your message from 2 weeks. I just did that before coming here. Awesome demo. Enjoyed the video.

lol, my feeble attempt to look like the big guys. Maybe I should improve on my audio first. But thanks for that!

IIRC you have to change the cab address on the Powercab to use it as a throttle and not a command station.

Hi, thanks for watching. Yep, I tried numerous things, including holding SELECT LOCO when powering on to try different addresses, because it would hang on the version number with normal startup.. the screen would actually only display partially as well. When operating without SB5 off powered PCP, ProCab worked fine.

Here's the hanging behavior it exhibited, when connected to SB, no matter what cab address I used. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMtjlNqTzrmuaX0.html

I have the Power Cab, Cab06P, and SB5 with 1 UTP panel. Plan to start permanent benchwork soon, and will likely end up adding one of those Wifitrax panels. What can you say about how well the wifi throttles work?
@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for stopping by. Available apps on Playstore (I have Android) leave something to be desired. Fine for basic operation. I haven't brought myself yet to spring for a TCS throttle, which I know are very good. My concern was whether the Wifitrax would work with the SB5, but no issues.

@@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 I am keeping my Power Cab , for other uses... adding a PCP panel and wall wart would be easy to make for small/portable uses. I plan to also keep the original panel and use it for a portable test track diorama built on a small board. That will be used for programming and such as I am still not sure if I want to add a computer and JMRI. being portable I could take it to another room where there IS a computer, and do decoder programming that way. I think the TCS stuff looks pretty nice, definitely will look into that or Digitrax for future builds/projects if there is ever anything a Power Cab wouldn't be enough for. I am only looking at wireless throttles in case that would make it more appealing to my kiddos, but my youngest got on just fine with the Cab06P the other day with a test loop of sectional track we put together on the floor.

Just curious, what are you going to use as a programming track? I kept me powercab simply to add a dedicated programming track. The SB5, that's the one thing you actually loose in the upgrade.
@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 Жыл бұрын
I have an insulated siding with a switch enabling quick programming.

Does this booster allow you to have 2 controllers connected to the same track and 2 people can drive 2 trains on the same track?
@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. More importantly, unlike with the Powercab contoller alone, you can unplug and plug in elsewhere on the layout without disrupting power/locomotives running.

@@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 oh cool! will this work for a wireless NCE controller and a worded NCE controller?
@jeffsbenningtonelkhornvall2207 Жыл бұрын
@@trainchaserlouisvilleindia7096 It will. I actually have a WifiTrax wfd-31 installed as one of the utp's enabling wireless via cell phone (covered in one of my videos). I haven't invested in a nice TCS controller yet.
