I bet if he got a new baby that was still struggling with Korean, he'd become fluent in a snap. Always seems like he knows at least the basics plus a bunch of vocab to be able to help all the members communicate. Like I'd seen him talking with Yuta before, but it was impressive how he was translating for Lucas too.

1:04 Shotaro said 금목서. It’s the flower called in Korean. He knows the Korean name. きんもくせい/金木犀(kinmokusei) is what Japanese call. The words Jungwoo said are pronounced almost like Japanese. He knew the Japanese name possibly. p.s. pronunciation 金 gold: JPN→きん kin KOR→금 geum 木 tree: JPN→もく moku KOR→목 mog

2:17 Taeil accidentally interchanging "glory" with "honor" as if the words were synonymous in the context of the greeting phrase is so funny to me. It's a mistake that a fluent speaker would never even think to make, and also could only happen if the speaker wasn't entirely fluent but had a wide enough English vocabulary at the same time.

To those who thinks that NCT's foriegn members are not fluent in any language...i just wanna to say they are already good enough..its really normal to get struggles with some language. Im a multilingual speaker too.i speak 9 languages. Sometimes i got confused and mixed up too. I can related to them.

He must have some basic understanding of Chinese and Japanese because he has to learn it to communicate to an extent with the members who are native to that language.

He can’t speak Chinese. A lot of Korean vocabulary is borrowed directly from Chinese, so many words will typically sound similar or even the same. It’s not hard to guess what Korean word corresponds to the Chinese word.
