Loving him saying he'd travel to the future. Everyone be like "Oh I'm goint to a Beatles concert" or "I'm seeing this legendary sports match" or "meeting some ancient celebrity", but this guy has serious CURIOSITY. Good for him. And also bold. I mean, I'm crazy curious about the future, but I'd be scared that if it's real bad, I couldn't deal with it.

I heard he was asked to audition just to confirm that they were right to pick him. It was Matt Smith, I think, who came in last and they were astounded by him.

No, RTD has said that Ncuti was the last to walk in a couple of times now - first on the Bafta red carpet after they announced him. Capaldi was the only option when he was up for it, and invited to audition to confirm. Smith was the third person through the door for the 11th, and they kept auditioning but couldn't see it as anyone but him.

Wait, I remember a very different RTD interview (was at least a year ago nd I'd say my recollection of it is like 60/100) where he made it clear his original choice for the Doctor ended up turning it down, and so the role went to Ncuti. I remember because I was a little shocked the actor was a white guy, and I thought alot about what it meant in that the doctor was returning to his old white self, and then no he decided the dr's gonna be black. But not by first choice

The first scene that Ncuti Gatwa played as the Doctor involved him playing "catch" with the villain. Her throwing the ball at him is a reference to that.

Christopher Lee was being interviewed about his playing Dracula. In the movie, he has no spoken dialogue and was asked why. He responded that they had, in fact, written dialogue for him and it was so badly written, Lee refused to deliver the lines opting to simply growls and snarl instead. In days gone by, the actors and writers were people who had real world experience, many had been in WW2. They were educated professionals who happened to be actors. This man seems lovely. I doubt very much he will be able to stand against the terrible writing this show has suffered from for years, or the showrunning being more focused on THE MESSAGE than in good storytelling or entertainment. I think if I were king of the universe and running this show, I would require him to watch the first Doctor and at least one season of each Doctor after that so he could have a sense of the facets to the character. He isn't on Sex Ed anymore. He isn't a gay black teen queen (which he was wonderful in) which seems a touch closer to who he really is. He will need to ACTUALLY act in this role. That is, pretend to be someone he is not.

I would not have watched Torchwood even though every main character was systematically turned gay over its run. RTD has destroyed 60 years of Who legacy and lore for his own political ideology and then gaslighted the fans, just like you are doing, for commenting that his new episodes are terrible. He and Ncuti have even admitted they are going to lean more into the ideology and they don't care. I want to be entertained. Not lectured. Could you please clarify your definition of “woke?” Because the dictionary definition is: To be alert to and aware of prejudice, discrimination and social injustice within society. Yet here you are framing this as a bad thing? What exactly are you objecting to? Are you actually suggesting these oppressive systems be upheld? Or is your argument that there is no prejudice, discrimination and injustice in the world? Because I think we can agree that’s not true… The Doctor (all of them) has always stood alongside the oppressed and the marginalized. They stand against hate, bigotry and oppression. How can you possibly call yourself a fan of Doctor Who without understanding this? We live in a diverse world where people come from all walks of life. Diversity of thought, culture, religion and ethnicity. This diversity makes us stronger, it’s how we learn, grow and evolve as a society. This is something to be celebrated and it should be reflected and represented in the art we make and the stories we tell. If you think the Doctor (any of them) would cry “anti-woke” nonsense alongside you… clearly you haven’t been paying attention.

Going to be an amazing doctor Just like every other doctor Each person brings their own energy and interpretation I think it’s odd to be so immediately critical just like people were with Jodie Whittaker It’s a show about a fictional regenerating character who travels time and space and has a machine that’s bigger on the inside I like any true doctor who fan will enjoy getting more content and seeing more lore developed
