Gatwa oozes charisma and bosses the screen like all the great Doctor Whos before him. On that basis alone, he's five times as good as Whittaker and Davison. If the storylines get stronger and darker, he'll be up there with Tenant. I hope the writers and production team don't let him down.

The whole point was that the Doctor didn't want to be a warrior? He even stopped calling himself the Doctor during the Time War. He doesn't count the War Doctor as a Doctor. He fought because he was forced to. He's also the only survivor because he ran away. Eight's last words before regenerating into War was "Physician heal thyself." and I think that's pretty telling. Also The Doctor's Daughter, the series four episode. The Doctor was being very adamant that he's not a soldier.

Why not reach into some new kind of material? A different story. Yeah. It's Doctor Who, but not really Doctor Who. Maybe if there were some great writers, directors and producers working on material that didn't pander to corporations for mega budgets we wouldn't have such a slide in the entertainment industry and less political interference in art.

Just here to give my obligatory middle finger to all the people going “Wah Wah Culture War” I personally blame Steven Moffat for attracting the people who act that way to the fanbase. I remember him saying something along the lines of “I’m not making this for liberals” The sort of thing a person claiming not to be political but has clear political bias would say. By the way, Ncuti Gatwa has been living in Scotland since he was 2. He fully qualifies as a British actor and is a perfectly fine choice to play the Doctor.

For me, Ncuti hasn't got thet presence nor the commanding voice like the classic Doctors... When he's being serious.. you just want too laugh. There are plenty of other actors like Idis Elba who have been perfect for this.

Nelson Mandela being black is a very important part of his story. And honestly, more people are on your side about your first point than you think. Hamilton for example. It's pretty distasteful to make slave owning presidents cool rapping poc characters.

This was an utter disgrace. They’ve turned Dr Who into a complete freak show. Dr who used to be all about aliens and defeating them now it’s about baby bogie men and drag music people. I mean what on earth is this. They always have to ruin everything now and the doctor is crap as well. To be honest I expected better things coming from Russel T Davies

Please start making sense. 1. How can "loyal Doctor Who fans" be the ones saying mean things about the actor who just started in the role and hasn't even had a chance to wear his shoes in? That's not what being a loyal fan is. That's what being a hater is. Learn the difference. 2. Where did you get the idea that he's planning to leave? And so what if he is? Nobody in their right mind would assume Doctor Who is a lifetime gig. You do a few seasons and then it's someone else's turn. That's how it works. Sometimes people come back for a bit after leaving, but it's never permanent. Having one eye toward what to do after the show is perfectly sensible, since nobody stays with the show forever and most people in the industry don't want their careers to stagnate after becoming too closely associated with a specific project (which is something that has been known to happen). 3. Lowest ratings where? And so what if it has? We live in an age now where shows are discovered by the audience gradually on streaming (and the show is on Disney+ around the world). And the show has some bouncing back to do with viewers who didn't stick around for all of the Chibnall years, which might take a little while.
