This week all headlines have focused on Justice Markandey Katju's revelations on how a certain judge was appointed to the Madras High Court despite concerns that were raised by the collegium because of political intervention. The government has now announced that it will speed up decisions on the appointment of judges. They are looking at setting up of a National Judicial Commission. But this all raises larger issues of the balance between the executive and judiciary as well - issues about judicial accountability, who will appoint the judges? Who will judge the judges? On The NDTV Dialogues this week, former Supreme Court judge and Chairman of the Press Council, Justice Markandey Katju, Indira Jaising, Ashwani Kumar, Soli Sorabjee and Satya Pal Jain debate the issue.

The judiciary was the last hope. Yes, it was the last hope. No more faith in judiciary. Keep up the good work ! Acquit everyone ! Hide burning coal till it torches your own hand !

Not only this every recruitment interview needs to be recorded and should be in Public domain. Of course nobody would watch it live on TV. But it should be available if anybody wants it

Tussle between SCI, CJI and Parliamentarian, who is supreme? Do one thing, change the name of SCI as Last court of India (LCI). Because only supreme is our Constitution, neither SCI or Parliament. How can we call supreme when two judges opinion are against three majority judges in one case?

Before the hearing a criminal knows he’s going to be granted bail,arnabs case comes to hearing asap but a honest police officer has to wait for bail why is no one debating on this issue that’s Sanjiv Bhatt

A few around the table seem to be on the brink of experiencing a heart attack or some sort of a stroke, given their age. Does NDTV have a policy of perhaps having a team of doctors behind the scenes ready to respond to any catastrophe?
