Fishing the $2 Ozark Trail 2.5" topwater frog from Walmart. This frog is a bargain compared to other brands but will it catch fish? How's the action? Does it even float? Lets tie it on, hop in the kayak, and find out!

The secret to all these youtube bass fishers who catch like 800 bass in a day is that they fish stocked lakes and ponds that only have private access. I don't even see the fun in that. I'd rather spend all day to catch one quality walleye or trout in a public lake or river.

The cost of a lure has little to nothing to do with its ability to attract a strike. When I was probably 8 years my brother and I went through a lot of lures. Combine that with the ability for young fishermen to lose lures at an incredible rate. My father refused to buy more lures and insisted my brother and I earn money cleaning neighborhood cars, mowing lawns etc. But we learned from magazines and TV about ways to make our lures. So we resorted to making lures from tea spoons and other items we found at the local dump. You’d be surprised how many fish we caught from junk not to mention the pride of doing it on your own. Even NDyakangler went out with a painted cork, sent in by a fan and caught plenty of smallies with it. 90% of all fish caught are the results of desperately hungry fish, not a lures price tag.

Time and repetition. Like a golfer that knows the difference between swinging a 1 iron or 3 iron at 180 yards (I have no idea if those clubs/distances are really a thing, so chill!) Or a quarterback throwing 15 or 25 yards. Set up a few targets in an open grassy field and throw a 1/2 lb sinker at them.

Not just the accuracy but the distance too! I am constantly amazed by how far his casts carry the lure. But what really blows me away is his dexterity in getting those lures out of the fish. When I think of how many hooks I've man-handled out of fish over the years at great injury to the fish and/or my fingers he seems an absolute magician. - Dan

Got a tip for ya. I use the same knot. Wet your line before you snich down your knot. I put the knot in my mouth and use my saliva to wet my line. Then I snich it. A dry line builds up friction and weakens your knot.

Yesterday I went to Walmart and I bought me this $2 frog and now I'm watching your video on this exact frog love it. The other day I commented on one other video of yours that I ran across and I fell in love with it and I became a subscriber. I said that your voice reminds me of Bob Ross it's so peaceful and this means a lot to me, Sir your fishing channel on KZfaq has hit home to me and let me explain why. I'm 63 years old I've been a fishermen all of my life and I mainly love fishing at lakes and rivers for the tranquility of being outside in nature while fishing. But two years ago I lost the Love of my life my wife of 32 years to cancer. And the depression monster hit me very hard and I'm just trying to make a slow come back and I'm thinking of hitting the waters again. And Sir your peaceful voice the beauty of the locations where you are fishing at has encouraged me to go out fishing once again, I know it will be difficult because many of my fishing trips my wife would go with me and fish alongside me. But now I'm going to do it to try and get my life back, and I just wanted to tell you Sir that your videos and your peaceful voice are doing much more then just teaching how to fish or how your fishing trips are for you. From one fishing angler to another thank you so much.

I bought one of these yesterday at Walmart....inflation hits, I had to pay $3...LOL. It's eyes fell off as I took it out of the package, but I glued them back on with UV activated glue. Looking forward to trying it out soon. The hook is definitely sharp! The brand name frogs were up to $9 each, so it's a pretty good deal for the money and at that price, if you snag and lose it.....oh well.

It’s great how you review some of the cheaper brands of tackle, because a lot of those lures, rods, reels etc., are so grossly overpriced and we’re just paying for the name - like Shimano and Rapala etc., when there are so many out there that are just as good and half the price. 👍

This one was a winner in my book! I've had a couple people comment they leak water but mine seemed to keep it out as good or better than the live target frog. Who knows, maybe it was their first time frog fishing and they didn't realize you have to occasionally squeeze them out lol. For 1.94 I'd assume quality control might not be the greatest though so maybe I just got lucky and got a good one but I was really impressed with it! I grabbed a couple of the yellow ones too so maybe I'll have to give one of them a try if the bass are still hitting frogs and see if the performance is consistent.

@@ndyakangler I suggest, that you test your knots for strenght. The one you tied here, but with only 4 turns, I have experienced 100% line strength with with a certain line. That is NOT good, because you risk the line breaking far from the lure, if you get a bottom hook, or if you hook a huge fish, and it might swim around with a long piece of line hanging, that even could snag something, and it would die from it - if things went really unlucky. I used to do all kinds of tests, to not leave anything to luck or guessing, and that made the rest of my fishing more relaxed. Best way to test knots, if identical hooks in both ends, and pull till one of them breaks. Also test different hooks - wire diameter also means something. To measure breaking strength, I used a bucket and filled with water, till the break, and then weighed the bucket. I don't have the energy to do videos, so feel free to use my input, if you like.

I have a couple of these things and they are a blast on my local lake. Bass and pike don’t seem to care whether the frog is 20 bucks or 2 and I could not be happier

The smaller silhouette sound in the 3 pack of this exact frog works much better. I’ve had terrible luck with this one but the 3 pack ones kill em

Another relaxing morning (my morning) out on a Minnesota lake with you. Almost a week late as your video never showed up in my feature. Saturday morning is just as good as a Sunday morning, now this week, I'll be fishing 2 days in a row lol

I bought a few of the $1 dollar spinnerbait from Walmart a few years ago out of pure curiosity. They went on to catch me my biggest Largemouth of my life. Since then I have used nothing else. If you lose one, it doesn't matter. They're $1!

Yes, and the hooks are larger compared to the body, so you get a better hook up rate. The only problem is there is a poor weight distribution so the lure flips to it's back alot when pulling it over lillies.

I love these cheap lil frogs they work just as good as the top brands. They are great for customizing them with small Colorado blades for feet or cut a buzztoads legs off and glue them to the back off the frog for being able to pause a buzztoad in the strike zone without sinking. Just be careful if you bend out the hooks cause they will snap off.
