Near Disaster! 46100 Royal Scot Lakelander 46115 Cumbrian Mountain Express 11 February 2023

Күн бұрынWhat an incredible day! Two LMS thoroughbreads on Ex LMS stomping ground!
Starting off at Penrith North Lakes Station on the west coast mainline WCML we see Direct Rail Services Class 66 66428 'Carlisle Eden Mind' and Class 66 66427 with a freight train.
Then we see the Saphos Steam Tour The Lakeander, hauled by locomotive services group limited Ex London Midland And Scottish Railway Rebuilt Royal Scot 46100 Royal Scot, race through assisted by LSL Class 47 D1924 'Crewe Diesel Depot'. I will say that Avanti West Coast Pendolino was well timed 🤣
Next we see an unassisted 46115 Scots Guardsman, part of the Carnforth Steam Pool with the Railway Touring Company's Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express operated by West Coast Railways.
We move back to Carlisle where @jackstrains1569 very kindly showed me an incredible spot on the Settle to Carlisle to see the return of the Cumbrian Mountain Express.
Finally after quite a long trek, we move to Blackwell on the Cumbrian Coast Line to see the Return of the Lakelander

Awesome catches. I cannot fathom how lucky we got here. I did the right thing to stand past the footbridge. That Royal Scot and Pendolino crossover is one of the coolest things I have ever recorded. A perfect display of old and new in all their glory. 46100 blasting the whistle at cruising speed and the 390 in a deep tilt and blasting its horn, proudly thriving on the line once held by its predecessor. I was SURE we were going to completely regret standing on Platform 1. It was too late for me to run over the footbridge so all I could do was hope for the best and I got it.

Super video Aadil, both the scots put on a top performance :D You were very lucky with the 390, if 46100 had been a few seconds later you wouldn't have even seen her 😂

There a quitw few tours in the south but I get what you mean. Maybe have a look on the railway herald website, you may find there were more than you expected. For example 60007 will be hauling the English Riviera from Taunton to Kingswear 6 times in the summer! And Bahamas does quite a few tours leaving London Victoria for destinations such as, Wareham, Faversham and West Somerset.

Very interesting to see your aspect of the Royal Scot going through PNR. See my video taken from the other end of the platform - I wasn't anticipating the Pendo getting in on the act, but as I'd let the camera run it captured the whole thing! I thought it was close at my end of the platform, much closer at yours !😂

@@liamsrailwayadventures1482 I've seen some footage on other channels of Gaurdsman over Shap and she actually slipped! Considering the conditions she made an incredible recovery and wasn't too late arriving into the Citadel!

It's an illusion, simply they way my phone was positioned it looks quite close when in actual fact i was stood behind the yellow line 👍🏼i often zoom in aswell or crop the videos on post hence why the footage looks really close up at times

Nice set of shots, thank you 👍👍👍. Shame about the Pendo', occupational hazard!! I didn't know there was a Blackwell in Cumbria, the only one I know is at the top of the infamous Lickey Bank near Birmingham.
