The Year One and Two book contains a lot more than Year One and Two. Runs of eleven issues each for Batman and Detective, and the Year stories are only 4 issues each! I hope this is true.

A new collection for Robin, Son of Batman is a neat surprise for a fan from its original drop. It deserved more attention at the time. People should read it.

The Green Lantern/Green Arrow omni WAS solicited before but was delayed for some reason. I'm not interested in the post-Crisis era of Batman, though I did enjoy the Mike W. Barr/Alan Davis run on Detective Comics. Which is why I'm surprised Detective Comics #568-570 aren't included in the volume as the the Barr/Davis run is supposed to be posts crisis -- even if Barr's Jason Todd Robin is more like the pre-Crisis version.

Wow, really glad about scalped omnibus. Wanted to collect it, but at the time some early deluxe volumes were hard to find, and DC never finished its fat tpb. I was looking forward to the omnibus, but started giving up after so many years. It’s a sweet surprise to have it coming 😂

Those JSA Omnibuses are so pricey where I live so I like the look of that compendium,. I hope for a vol 2 and also GL Kyle Rayner vol 2 and Sandman Mystery Theatre Vol 2 would be great DC please!

Really curious to see what these Finest formats look like. But excited to get that Scalped omni. I don’t usually upgrade if I already have something in some format, but I was only able to collect Scalped in like three different formats, so upgrading to eventually two omnis to replace my current hodgepodge may make sense.

I've been wanting to fill gaps between the bits of JSA collected by Eaglemoss and Hachette so I'm in for the Compendium. From Speedyhen DC Compendiums have been coming out at £34 shipped in the UK which is fantastic for the page count. A little concerned about the amount of first volumes we've seen in this format without a follow up announced as yet but hopefully that sorts itself out over time.

Yet seems to be skipping the whole "The Justice Society Returns!" prelude, in favour of "Day of Judgment" and what looks like a bunch of near random JSA-related cameos in other books. Not really sure what the thinking there is. Including the annual does suggest it will be better mapped than the omnibuses though, which place tons of stuff in the wrong place (e.g. the annual, the _JLA/JSA_ crossover, the _JSA: All-Stars_ mini).

Looking forward to the DC finest series, especially the JSA one as well as Superman and Aquaman, some of them are not of interest though. I wish they would add some extras at the back like the epics but DC have always been a little dire when it comes to extras

There is a typo in the Superman Exile Omni listing. It has Superman issues 23-37 not 23-27. The original printing also has Adventures of Superman 445-460 while this listing only says 445-459.

Nothing for me this month, which I'm not too upset about as my wallet could use the break! I am very happy that Superman Exile omni is getting a reprint for those who need it, as it gives me hope that DC hasn't forgotten about the material that happens between this and the Triangle Years omni.

Just to point out Superman books actually got better when Byrne left, that is not a knock on the Byrne run I liked it a lot, it got me reading Superman regular for the first time ever but for those who have not read this era I wanted to point out they can be assured quality creative teams took over or continued and produced good stories and Exile is great, and a long long run of the triangle years too (including the "Eradication"/"Brainiac Trilogy" gap that we will weirdly have)!

@@Suporchin they're not doing OHCs anymore for ongoing series or something that would take multiple volumes. They're only doing OHCs for self-contained/finite stories, or limited series. Unless you were counting an omnibus as an OHC. I've seen people who are really addicted to OHCs buying the omnibus, and then sending it to a book bindery to have it pulled apart and into separate books and custom-bound like that. But that's hella f****** expensive. But I don't see the point for this series, it would take way too many OHCs to collect this, it's just not efficient.

@@xposhboyxnot efficient? I have all 15 volumes of Fables in OHC. Transmet would easily be 4-5 OHCs like 100 Bullets, DMZ, or Scalped. There are several series just as long or longer than Transmet that were collected as OHCs.

@@Suporchin #1 well this is all personal preference, ultimately. You have your wants and that's fine. #2 but my understanding is they're not doing anymore OHC that requires a series of books... But you're right, they started Sandman in 2020. I guess time will tell if they do anything more than that. #3 my personal preference/opinion: not efficient. I don't want to wait 7-10 years while they trickle out six OHC. And again, just preference, but I don't like to handle six books when I could just be handling two. Two is more efficient.

I have the first edition Absolute Sinestro corps war and my one complaint is that they shaved off a little bit of the artwork inside. there is one panel that where you can't see Karu-Sil's ugly face when she tries and scares Guy and says "BOO". in the original Sinestro Corps. Special 1. you can see it. Just curious if DC will fix this in the entire book.

I could see reworking Vice/Virtue & JSA all stars into second volume since they were released in 2003-04’, but omitting JSA Returns one shots is strange.

Very strange mapping for JSA compendiums since it’s almost nothing alike the first omnibus contents. That being said, this mapping and the solicited JLA trade mapping seems to suggest DC is willing to deviate from an omnibus mapping for their paperbacks (Johns GL reprints are bizarre considering that though). Ultimately, giving hope that many of its fractured titles like Johns Teen Titans and Tomasi GLCorps will eventually get a more comprehensive collection

DC Finest books are called digests, so probably cheap paper. But any idea if they're small books? Digests usually are.

Omnis are hardcovers and oversized. Compendiums are softcovers and standard size: practically a really fat trade.

Hot take but I’m actually a bit disappointed by the mapping of that Year One book. I’d have rather seen Year One collected with The Man Who Falls and Shaman (two stories that are respectively a direct lead into and a direct continuation from the iconic story).

I’m with you on the Cassandra Cain Omni. She’s my favorite Batgirl. I picked up all the trades of her series that have been release but the entire series has not been collected. My guess is we will get a paperback compendium before an Omni though. If DC is not giving us Omnis of Nightwing and Robin I doubt we will get an Omni for Cassandra.

Superman First Superhero is pretty disappointing. Volume 1 of Superman Golden Age Omnibus had all this content and quite a lot more in addition so that's a pass. Hard Traveling Heroes Omni at least has extra stuff that wasn't included in the HTH Deluxe edition from 2018 so I'll be buying that one. Side note I really wish DC would restart the DC Archives series, I mean clearly Marvel is doing well with masterworks I just don't get why they don't. So many series I'd love to have that they have never even touched. (Or if they have only barely)

I was initially excited about the DC Finest line, but the more I look at them, the more they just look like repackaging of books that have been in print forever. I think the people who see these as DC's version of the Epic Collection are going to be disappointed.

3 books got my attention for this reason (not released as omnibus before): Aquaman: The King of Atlantis, Justice Society of America: For America and Democracy and Catwoman: Life Lines.
