You sold me on Neat Video, first time I saw you mention it, Vic. It's amazing, and I have known nothing about how to use it beyond Auto profile/build (even that much is ALWAYS an improvement!) , but THIS is a fantastic tutorial! Just hoping I can translate it to FCPX. Thanks again!!!!

The DaVinci Resolve Denoiser works pretty good, but Neat seems to beat it by a lot when I tried the demo. I am ready to buy the pro version, but I see that version 5 came out in 2019. We're coming up on 2023. As has been my luck with other software, I will buy version 5 and then version 6 will come out a month later. >.>

Hi Dick, in my case I find Neat Video that doesn't reduce sharpness. I am sure you will find the correct settings. There is a Sharpen thick box, you might give it a try

Very ... clearly explained video! Thank you for that. Just a question, in case you came around this problem. I use neat video with drone or regular camera but sometimes I have a problem in fast action scenes. For instance, if a car passes at a medium city limit speed or I have a closeup on a human hand performing some action the clip's actual motion blur appears more intense. To be more specific, after applying Neat, a trail like ghosting might appear on the cleared result. Am I just overdoing it with the slides and I need to be less aggresive or I just need to go over and over again until I find the best setting? As for the drone setting, I totally agree: It really makes a big difference and is a great tool. It indeed comes to the resque of otherwise unusable clips.

Thanks, so far I haven-t had any issue with increased motion blur using NV. But I will play around with some clips containing action and I will come back to you if I find something interesting

I see the same thing. It's an anomaly I also see with cell phone video. Something static can appear to move in the edge around a moving object. Like a person waving their hand over a checkerboard. The squares on the board will appear to stretch or pinch, depending on the direction of the hand movement. Sometimes it's subtle and not an issue, while other times it's more pronounced.

Weird question, I cannot see that pop up box you got detailing the render time. The bar above my clip is red and I am unable to playback the video without it being choppy - so I know it is still rendering. Are you able to help me view how much time is left in the render?

@VICVideopIC
@VICVideopIC 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Roger, in low light the camera you use has of course a big influence. But assuming you need to crank up ISO, you don-t have to worry about the noise, as Neat Video will get rid of it
@rspratt
@rspratt 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry if this is a stupid question: If you have some video made up of different scenes and you use NEAT to correct the first scene, can you assume that NEAT will sort out all the remaining scenes, too - OR - do you need to run NEAT for EVERY scene, individually? I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
@VICVideopIC
@VICVideopIC 3 жыл бұрын
I Robert. It depends what editor you are using Neat Video with. I use After Effects, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Reolves. With these programs you put Neat Video in an individual layer above the clips in your timeline. Then you can stretch the layer to affect all the clips, or you can cut the layer if you want to affect only one of them, or a few of them

I don't understand the relationship between noise and sharpness. How does getting rid of noise make the image softer. They seem unrelated to me. I'm buying this software in a few minutes because I've just bought a used Mavic Pro and have flicker issues. Again, something I don't understand. How is flicker and noise related? Or isn't it? If you know of a good tutorial about this please send it my way. I love the way you presented this information. Subscribed.

@VICVideopIC 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, many denoisers in the process of getting rid of noise make the image softer, there is often a sort of trade off between the two. But Neat Video in my experience is the only one that maintains detail intact while denoising. Flicker is a different thing, it a shift in luminosity from a frame to another. It is especially noticeable in timelapses, as the electronic shutter doesn't go to exactly the same aperture shot after shot
