well nostalgia also makes it a lot better automatically. Personally the last jedi is my 3rd favorite star wars movie. they made the characters more realistically human and the acting was probably some of the best surprisingly in all of Mark Hamill's career. Even though he wasn't like he was in the other films it only makes sense he would be like he is at that age. No one really stays the same. Things happen. Plus theres a lot of sub context you can very easily miss in the movie and its actually quite important. That I would view as a huge flaw but i guess rian wanted it to be like that.

Carrie was such a likeable person. Its hard to believe that things ended up that way for her in life. Alot of it has to do with this toxic hollywood environment that she found herself growing up in, and one thing leads to another and before you know it your hooked on drugs and drink which subsequently destroyed her and led to her early demise when you are not strong enough or mature enough as a person mentally and find you self being said and led by negative influences. !

Carrie was in her early 20’s here. She was 19: when she filmed the first Star Wars. No pressure. As we know now, Harrison Ford was having an affair with her. She had a lot to deal with at a very young age. As for Mark, in between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back he was in a bad car accident and messed his face up, lots of scarring. That’s why Luke looks so much older in the second film.
