Between 30 and 400 you can get the autel ap200 series for around 100 dollar. It's a dongle for phone or tablet. Full diagnostics capacity on one make for free for a lifetime. Every other model 1 year subscription for about 30 dollar. Also includes generic data ofcourse. Perfect for working on your own car.

One of the expenses if you buy the lower priced Autel scanner is the cost of the updates which I heard are very pricey. Might be best before buying any one of these scanners is to determine if you are willing to pay for the updates otherwise thanks for the presentation, nice to see them all lined up side by side .

Now you see why auto diagnostics and repairs cost what they do, the shops have so many many expensive tools needed to do their job. They are also entitled to make a profit. For the diy’er it’s costly but for someone who frequently uses it, it’s well worth the expense.

ThinkDiag2 will only chart one data pid at a time. It will display all data pids in numeric form simultaneously, but will only chart 1 at a time. It is handy for portability and price. Awesome at the $113 price currently. Quick, Ivan, put them in your store. You'll sell 100,000 of them. I just went outside to test mine on 3 different brands to see if it was limited to 2, and it went online with Mini, Ford, and GMC. Bi-Directional, and TPMS by lowering air pressure (or buy a $150 handheld device to excite the tire sensor). It even says it will do programming, but I haven't had a need for that.

I got the Xtool D8 several months ago for $700, and it has been a pretty incredible little tool. It seems to just be a copy of Autel's layout and software. I should have waited for black Friday though. lol.. It has 3 years free update; It doesn't have the topology map, but it's really good with keys; and they have been super good at fixing bugs within a week or so of them being reported (which I've done myself and seen across at least 3 other videos on different channels now; their customer service has been pretty impressive as far as I can tell).

for just $200 you can get the xtool a30m dongle,its basically the xtool a7 but cuts cost by you supplying the tablet to run it.this also means if you have a fast tablet your xtool will be fast, imo best bang for the buck.
@calholli
@calholli Жыл бұрын
@@pigeonsil240sx I agree-- but It does have a lot less of the extra options. (although it does do a hell of a lot for what it is). I watched a bunch of videos on it before I got this one. Plus the A30M is bluetooth only- which makes it a little slower still; I wanted the direct wire plug. I'm super happy with the D8. I've already made several sets of keys for a few of our cars; and the dealer said it would cost like $500 per key to make them -- so It has already paid for itself several times over; and I've used it to repair about 5 other cars already too. ' I let my buddy borrow it for his truck, and he gave me $20 when he gave it back, just because it worked so well for him and helped him out too. You can't go wrong with any scantool really. It pays itself off so fast, even if you're just working on your own stuff. Cheers.

I have yet to test FCA or SGW on it but for anything from 2004-2017 it has worked extremely well. Only issue I have had so far was a FORD F-250 gas 6.2 v8. It would not communicate. My older x431 has been decent performer, does have it's limitations/quirks. But biggest pet-peeve is not enough onboard storage for at least all the major makes. BMW alone is < 600MB. Which of those scan tool can be used on kawasaki bikes and communicate with the ABS? And can any of them tell you if the ECU has been tuned? Before someone say "just get an ABS enabled scanner", it is a bike, not a car. It use two 'non-standard' connectors. One is for the ECU, one is for the ABS. The ABS don't talk canbus.

Software renewal cost may be a factor to be considered. Last I saw, the Launch X431 Pro3S+ “mall” said a standard software configuration renewal is $438.70 for 12 months, $701.92 for 24 months, and $1039.71 for 36 months. I doubt I’ll renew when my 2 year free update is up so we’ll see if it becomes a brick when it expires near the end of May 2023. At some point the tablet wanted to save memory or something and wanted to do something with things I haven’t been using, maybe like putting ‘em to sleep but I don’t think I agreed. (mine has 64 GB memory, 33% used) Many of the software updates are for vehicles that I’ll never see in the U.S. so I didn’t bother installing 75 of them. The story behind my Launch X431 Pro3S+ is incredible because back in 2021, while perusing Amazon for something better than the BlueDriver, I saw the Launch X431 Pro3 S+ priced at only $60 (+ tax) so I jumped on it immediately since the list price was $1190.00 I thought for sure the order would be cancelled but the seller, Kingbolen, actually let the sale proceed. (I see Kingbolen has posted some helpful responses in this thread) Anyway, back when I bought the scanner, the seller emailed a couple times and said an operation error caused a $50,000 loss because all 50 units sold at that low $60 price and asked for another $500 saying the boss agreed to a 50% discount. Their loss dampened my glee about my bargain purchase but expendable cash just wasn’t possible. The Launch X431 Pro3S+ has a kickstand (which I use to hook the steering wheel) and it says V2.0 on the back but eventually the software updated to V7. (Lenovo TAB M10 FHD Rel.) The splash screen opens with powered by android and the desktop has Google, camera, files, settings, Chrome, and Play Store. I don’t recall how long it took to charge but it sure seemed like a long time and I couldn’t use it while it was charging. My unit used 43% of battery life for 1 hr 27 min of screen usage. Quite a few service functions on the scan tool will often say “car model not supported,” such as “compare sample’ so just because it’s listed doesn’t mean it’ll perform. Plus many functions are repeated in different areas of the tree. Somewhat related, I found the Xhorse VVDI mini programmer required their special chipped key so I returned it because I thought it was shady not to mention that upfront. Well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Toodon updated the phoenix lite 2 with topology a few months ago. If you you have that up to date and use it you will see what im talking about. It does online coding but not programming

The smaller Autel maxicom added bi-directional controls not too long ago also. It's awesome to see all these guys compete, because it's forcing everyone to upgrade their tools and lower prices. You love to see it.

I bought the Thinktool ProS on your last sale. Liking it so far, but coming from my Autel, there's a bit of a learning curve! (Truth be told, I'm still not fully familiar with this tool, but I bet I'm only scratching the surface!)

On your go-to, the launch, you are able to have graphs in a tiled layout. I have an Autel and as you know it's not possible to display it that way. Does the topdon have that capability? I really like that feature on the launch. Thanks!

I wonder is ThinkCar created TopDon just to compete with themself just to drive sales between the two products.

Thinkcar has a bluetooth dongle and software that runs thru your phone or tablet for about $100 that appears to be mostly functionally equivalent to the pro S except for network topology and live data graphing have to share a graph instead of being able to graph separately (both of which I've bitched to them about if one has the screen real-estate to accommodate those graphics). I believe it's called the "think Diag"

Decisions, decisions... a new scanner, or an Audio Precision audio analyzer off eBay. Should i be fiscally responsible and buy the tool with quickest ROI? Which one is most fun? Perhaps I might consult the Magic 8 Ball, or flip a coin (best of 7 flips). Rock-paper-scissors? More DECISIONS!

Typically the smaller screens will also have smaller batteries and less memory; just a general observation.

I read online that the MK808S will stop working unless you pay the yearly subscription? Is that correct? IF I bought one, I would only need it for older cars that I own and wouldn't have to update it every year.
