Underground was better because: - Dyno - Multiple shops that you actually had to find which was fun - Way better handling - More parts that could be changed - Hot girls with big booba - A better selection of cars - A better map which was way more fun - A better soundtrack The only thing 2015 did better are the graphics. They ruined the most important part to a racing game which is the handling. 💀 2015 is the closest we had to U3 yeah, but it wasn't everything I hoped for.

i personally think if they make a 2015 2.0 wth offline, better AI, better cops, better handling, more customization from U2, day & night cycle, 4 seasons cycle, magazine photoshoot games like U2, RTX, more accessible map instead of it looking big but unaccessible for a big part, we'll have a real Underground successor.

8:10 Underground 1 actually kinda did this a little. The AI in career mode were all the same drivers that would equip better items on their cars over the course of the game. They're not random like the other games

I’ve been calling this the underground successor SINCE DAY 1!!! This was the modern culmination of the old NFS. Yeah a MW or carbon remake would sell like hotcakes but this was such a perfect game from the disappointment that was rivals !!!

2015 is the closest ghost could go without having copy paste body kits and without alienating the nfs fanbase that likes to drive around in cars that aren’t tuner cars. It has the city, the cars, the mountains, the rain, constant night time, a (personally) fitting soundtrack. The game just makes sense as an underground game. Times change, they can’t just copy paste a 20 year old game anymore. People expect more from their games. It’s bound to be different.

ok so here are alot of similar things with 2015 and underground 2 specifically - always night time and in some parts is early morning - road is always wet - uses a phone system - has good customization - has drag racing - has drift racing - has a highway around most of the map - has outrun - has racers driving around - has a crash cam - has a big city as a main attraction - is more focused on road than offroad - has a mountain area - has a different city - more speed focused map i need to know how this is not underground 3.

Ill tell you exactly what i need, the driving physics of Underground / Most Wanted 05 but refined. I like cars that can turn and feel responsive. I despise the dependance on brake to drift, if i want to drift i want to feel like ive done it, none of this on rails burnout bs. And a return to exploration being a mechanic in the games progression. These are my needs.

A few things missing in 2015: NEON!!!!, soundsystems and other stuff could costumise like the collor of your engine,... magazinecovers, being able to open doors and hoods and so on,...

I remember watching the trailers for NFS 2015 back when they just came out and thinking about why it was called just Need For Speed instead of having a specific title like older games and deduced that they maybe wanted to make it as a symbol for a new era of nfs games. I later assumed that it was a known fact that NFS 2015 was Underground 3 without being named as such. Also, at the time I had already played every nfs game (for pc and ps) and was so hyped for the game but didn't have a pc that could run. I was only able to play it 2 years ago and was still blown away but how good it was or at least by how much potential it had. I then played payback and heat and they both seemed very underwhelming especially on the story side and the fact that they kept the annoying brake to drift based gameplay that kinda fit the theme of 2015 (imo). Unbound however gave me a similar feeling to 2015, it had a huge potential that wasn't used to the fullest, tho it still has the best gameplay of all recent nfs games by far.

I agree with you Theo, on basically all levels. BUT, you also have said that Carbon was Underground 3… multiple times…

When I look at underground, I see the map slowly opening up as the story continues, sponsor deals that require a specific amount of races with bonuses, the X races and the underground racing league, and the tuning part you know when you put your car in a dyno and then tune the ecu, the nos, the turbo, etc. That is what made underground underground, for me at least.

What I really want to see NFS do at some point would be a completely original setting, maybe in the close future à la Cyberpunk, with completely original car designs the way sometimes The Crew has been doing. I think futuritic settings have been hugely forgotten about in the racing genre outside of indies, and I'd love to see one of the "big" series have a try at it. Hell, lemme dream about a collab with CD Projekt Red and have the actual cars from Cyberpunk 2077 in a NFS game. I just want to drive around and do actual races in a futuristic neon city really.

The physics of the NFS 2015 is nothing like underground physics

the only things I really wanna see come back in from the older most wanted (the good one IMO) are the pursuit breakers like hitting the support of the doughnut sign and having it fall to block the road and immobilize the cops behind you. And the black list pink slips. Other than that I say heat is my favorite modern NFS game.

Nothing is close to U1 and U2. Fans are still playing these first two editions. Plus, they're making a lot of random MOD's as well as graphic rendering and textures improvements. This is what you usually do when you want to release a new game, but U1/2 fans are showing us how much they like these editions by doing all of this things.

Carbon was a transition for world traveling to be introduced. Carbon was supposed to bring canyon racing and canyon drifting

I think it’s because we all started with underground 1 and it was amazing growing up with. U2 came out and it was the same game but massively improved, so I think it’s just left us waiting and expecting U3 that does the same by adding so much more into the game and deepening the options of customization like engine swaps, more performance parts and tiers of them. Even if it’s not realistic or the mods don’t exist in real life but who doesn’t want to build a car in their own way to fit their play style. I personally want there to be so much to choose from that it’s almost overwhelming. Modding capability that would take forza horizon, grab turismo, kaido racer, Tokyo x racer all combined to hold a candle too. Bring on the ridiculous civic swaps that rival hyper cars on the drag strip or highway. GTRs that are so fast they achieve warp speed. A freaking Kei Truck with a wide body and busa swapped ffs.

You mentioned Carbon being an underground game...that's the game I want them to try and remake in a bigger way. It would be awesome to have a more lived in world with crews that you manage deeper. There can be a story that helps guide you to the top but make the game more about trying to stay at the top.

Hey blackpanthaa cool video. You know what maybe you're right. Maybe nfs 2015 is technically nfs underground 3 or nfs carbon. Except in my opinion though nfs carbon feels like if nfs most wanted but at night with crews and a shorter career mode. It has cops I don't mean to be overly judgmental but like you said in a past video they are like an afterthought. Other than reward cards they serve no pourpos in the career. In my opinion if you look at the contrast between nfs most wanted and nfs carbon in my opinion gives an example why a year after year release of an nfs doesn't mean it will be better. The devs need the time to create the game for the players that's why a 2 3 or 4 year span even more whatever they need that gives the devs the time to create and make a polished new game in the franchise. I guess nfs 2015 was ghost games first attempt at making a game as close as they can to nfs underground 1. Although nfs payback wasn't the best game. To be honest in my opinion there's no video game out there that's completely flawless. If there was a flawless game out there wouldn't be the need for future games maybe. I think nfs payback was an improvement they added the vanity accessory customization which you can customize your nitrous flames and underglow like the underground games. The only drawback is that there weren't "free roam" cop pursuits. You activate them through missions but they put up more of a challenge than the cops in nfs 2015. There were also more cars and gameplay to it. Of the most recent nfs games you're right although in my opinion I like both nfs heat and unbound. The thing that I would like in unbound that is cool with nfs heat is the ability to switch to night and or day at your leisure. That probably has to do with the structure of the game. Like you said correct me if I'm wrong but criterion should get the credit they deserve with continuing to support nfs unbound to keep it alive and improve on it. They have fans of differing opinions on how an "underground esque" game should or shouldn't be. They should get credit where it is due in my opinion. What I am missing for it to be an Underground or good NfS in general is the handling first of all. Give us the old handling thats just fun and easy, gets drift handling in the specific events for it. Underground 2 has had the community being shown and what adds to it, doing photo shoots and events like that. And where are hero cars? We get like cars we see 2 times in the whole story driven by characters that just exist but dont interact. They are nothing to be remembered. That being said, I enjoy the new titles, not as much but its still fun to play, especially with friends. Lets see where it goes with Unbound as its so far pretty good besides the driving effects lol

UG3 already existed in 2006, it's called Carbon. If you watch UG2 development changes, many concept they wanted for UG2 was finally included in Carbon like vinyl layering or mix of night street racing with cops.

I can understand how NFS 2015 seems like Underground 3 from a distance; a) fixed night time. b) tuner cars c) the inclusion of police chases which in my opinion were for those that criticised Underground 2 having a lack of law enforcement that would’ve added the extra rivalry towards the illegal racing scene in an open city. But to me the things that DON’T make it Underground 3 are; a) a lot of the cars from 1 and 2 were your typical every day cars, instead of the apparent focus on what people’s “dream” tuner cars would be. b) the modification process aimed towards how your car looked rather then how it goes, a draw back to that was of course the alienated bodykits that at some point were a requirement towards the rating system to progress through the game. c) the customization that is seemingly pointless such as trunk extras and other specialties that added that extra charm and personality to your builds. Overall there are some factors that wouldn’t make Underground 3 feel like how the originals felt, those games taking heavy inspiration from the Fast & Furious movies at the time (back when they were more fast than furious, unlike the current movies that aim towards action and stunts). But if NFS did have better customization than it already does, exterior AND interior (perhaps a similar route to what Midnight Club LA delivered), and also if it included some of the typical car models, maybe not the exact same models from Underground 1 and 2 as they would probably feel outdated but there have been newer models. If Need For Speed was to create another game that’s a mix of everything, but also add in the stuff I mentioned from Underground 1 and 2… then it would feel more closer to how the older games felt but of course, you’d never recapture the exact feeling and nostalgia.

Honestly to me, the handling went to shit somewhere around mostwanted 2005. I miss the feel of the two undergrounds, they lost me after most wanted/pro street(can't remember which came first). I just hate the floaty/weird drift and cornering physics. I just started playing forza as soon as the 360 came out and never looked back

The 2 underground games and even MW/carbon had the story conected to each other. 2015 is a great basis on what they should build U3 on, with aome kf the characters from the U2/MW/carbon to follow up on this story For me should be a mix of MW cops, characters/story from undergrounds/MW/carbon, visuals from U2 or 2015, nowadays graphics etc..

NFS 2015 as you pointed out, felt to me back in the day like Underground. A small team should have been what this game had from the get-go after the closure of black box, I think EA finally has realized this is what they need to do.

Well, I've never been exactly like "Please make Underground 3!". I would say NFS is about 2 things mainly: Police and pedantic modifications as selling points. At the moment in, terms of the modifications, NFS is slowly getting caught up to by other racing games. To go forward with the modifications I think the following simple things can achieve that: 1. Bring back tire width, and track width sliders and unlock the stance slider a bit more. 2. More body kits and they don't have to be existing ones. (optional) 3. Add medium metal flakes. (currently only small and large). 4. More paint types or separate sliders to control every colour of the "iridescent" and "spectre" paint 5. The wrap editor needs more basic shapes and blurred shapes. Fix the transparency issues for the wrap and add folders/groups, as well as clipping masks. 6. Put the same paint types to be available for the wrap as well. Wrap irl comes in a variety of types not only gloss and chrome/metallic. 7. The option to change the colours of the existing decals. 8. Add the ability to upload custom shapes to the game. (I realise that will be highly unlikely) 9. Same colour change options for the taillights as for the headlights. 10. More colour options for underglow. (I don't think there's a basic white one currently) 11. Body parts varieties that change small things like adding mudflaps or making the indicators on the r34 clear instead of orange. Bring back hood blowers with sliders for height etc. 12. Top chops like in Carbon.

Few things missing, interior customization, and most of all the dyno tuning from underground 2. The story line for underground 2 was one of the best as for always something to do. The visual car rating and magazine challenges. Tbh id like to see a undergroud/pro street clash. Where there is dyno tuning, mods on the realistic side (unbound is trash) and closed course races like prostreet and shift. They really could surpass forza and gt as far as a fun playable game for everybody. I just feel they are coming in short. There was a game called import tuner challenge on xbox 360 that was one of the best made imo (it was part of the tokyo extreme racer series. I feel nfs could make a open world game derived from underground, merge closed course racing with like tracks placed on the map for sanctioned races, add in a parking lot quest of something like a blacklist or a small group of racers to beat, open up to long freeways leading to more to do. And be cool to see under hood visual mods. But they are letting AI make their games now. Thats why they seem so small. Like it seems there is no real story line to any of them. Be cool to see them merge everything into one game with a tokyo extreme racer influence. I feel thats what has always been missing. And nfsu2 was one of the best games ever imo. Tokyo extreme racer zero and import tuner challenge had all the missing links to nfs for me.

I would like a modern attempt at Rivals with modern customization and uncapped framerate, Rivals map is goated really, it shows that you don't need hundreds of roads, honestly i have started to appreciate the lesser open maps in the franchise Fairhaven for example, so many cool places to take the cops for a spin lol. I really love rivals and i recommend people to try it out again, still got a healthy player base also, also banger soundtrack.

I play all the modern NFS (thanks Gamepass:)) and be agree with Pantha that NFS Reboot feels like Old NFS and a few of then have their own identities, but the think that are not changed is the driving system, its necesary change it ASAP. I play GRID legends and it feels great it´s precise but funny and I think that IF you put the GRID driving system in a polished game like NFS Reboot or Heat or maybe if you want more identity somethink like Unbound or PROStreet would be have a great game.
