My husband is so lucky I didn't hear this before our wedding.

I heard "Love Rollercoaster" playing in public recently and actually got legitimately confused when Trent Reznor didn't come in. And then I realized 'Oh wait, this is like an actual song isn't it'. Congratulations Neil, you officially broke me.

Angry Disco is a genre we need more of.

Eventually, after listening to these songs enough, the samples stop being samples. They start to bleed together until they're indistinguishable from each other and you start to forget the original songs. The reach a fluid state until you hear one on the radio months later and go "Oh yeah, that's an _actual song!_" The _Mouth_ saga is a trip, man.

I really like how more and more of Trent's instrumentation creeps in as the song plays on, yet the funk is never ruined.

It's surprisingly hard to worry about death while listening to this.

Okay but imagine a music video for this song. Trent Reznor in a skating rink, doing some funky moves, but the place is all gross and decayed, with hanging bodies in BDSM garb everywhere, and theres this weird filter on the camera to make everything a little more grey scaled. But Trent is skating and having a good ol' time.

That first "SAY WHAT?" really hits different here.

You know, this was the first Neil Cicierega song I heard and I didn't know he did mashups, nor did I know the two original songs, and I honestly thought this was an original song. Also, I'd unironically walk down the aisle to this song if I ever were to get married.

Some of the artists sampled in Neil's albums need to perform these mashups at a concert.

I finally figured it out. Music is like alchemy. The sound of the vocals and sound of the instrumental combined make a band. Mixing two different bands results in a different sound. This sounds like a New Radicals song, for example, and Mullet with Vampire Wings sounds like a Billy Idol song. Neil has mastered the theoretical "lead to gold" of this alchemy and has created much more valuable things besides.

Imma be honest this song is kinda hot

Ah, Neil kept the infamous Rollercoaster blood curdling scream at 2:32 ... when the song came out, rumors abounded that a woman was murdered adjacent to the studio the Ohio Players were recording in, and the mics picked up her scream. (Seriously, look it up ... those urban legends persist to this day.)

I love how the intro actually fits the album cover. Edit: what I mean by this, is that the intro sounds like you are in a blank room, and then suddenly the music fades in very slowly. The album cover seems to have a blank room type background.

NeilQue2t: Neil, meanwhile, rides a rollercoaster in peace, before hearing a repeated cry of 'help me'. Leaving his old life behind, Neil proceeds to follow his otherworldly calling.

For once I haven't heard any of the songs this is made of, so this actually sounds like a pretty good piece of regular music.

when i listen to this i imagine that trent is still trying to be all dark and broody in spite of the funk going on in the background around him and he keeps getting cut off during the chorus when he tries to say “fuck you” and he just gets increasingly frustrated as it goes on (as evidenced by his screaming of “liKE AN ANIMAL” the second time in the second chorus)

Love Rollercoaster reminds me of growing up in the seventies, and Closer reminds me of my early twenties when Nine Inch Nails was the soundtrack to my life. So thank you, Neil!

One thing I will never get tired of when it comes to Neil’s music is just finding out little things that make you think “Huh!
