Him talking about his meeting with Carl Sagan made me a bit emotional. Don't know why, but it must have been a grand experience. Something that will eventually enter the history books.

He is so mesmerizing to watch speak. The same way Sagan and Feynman were.

I know, I love the guy. It is a sad day when in class we see a video of him and like 8 people say, "Wait! isn't that the meme guy?" Well to be fair he is, but he is much more.

Love Tyson. Interviewer was very nice, but i've heard the same questions every time. Don't mind hearing the answers twice though.

I envy what Neil Degrasse Tyson has with a ferocity and a sorrow. You can tell that there are people who just learn just enough to muddle by. And there are those who have an earnest passion and love for a thing. People don't get it. "Just drawing a paycheck" is the definition of mediocrity. If you're in that camp, you're just an imitator of the folk who actually have a deep, almost moral, commitment to their work. It's the one thing that separates the genius from everybody else.

Don't ever let the trolls get you down. It has no bearing on your ability to do the work. Do, however, concentrate on your writing abilities, since it will impact your work in astronomy as much as your mathematical skills. Grant writing, research findings, etc., all depend upon clear communication. I see no reason why you can't be a fine scientist; the difference between a good one and a great one, however, is how they connect with others and communicate their findings. All good fortune to you.

I was paying you a compliment. The point I was attempting to make was it's worth questioning _why_ someone is known .. beyond "famous for being famous" (a la Paris Hilton)...

I personally think that is kind of a dangerous way to think. You are implying that how you think is better than how others think, now I'm not saying anything bad about you, just food for thought.
