Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson sat down for his first-ever VladTV interview, and he started off speaking about growing up in the Castle Hill projects in the Bronx with his parents. He then went on to speak about his love of astronomy beginning when he was just 9, and Neil explained why he decided to go to Harvard. After getting his Ph.D., Neil spoke about becoming the head of the Hayden Planetarium, which is where his love of astronomy started when he was a kid. From there, Neil detailed being twice appointed by then-president George W. Bush to serve on the Future of the United States Aerospace Industry and the “Moon, Mars, and Beyond” commission. During the conversation, Neil spoke about living near the World Trade Center during 9/11, and he detailed walking outside with his camcorder to witness the explosion from the first tower collapsing. Moving along, Neil spoke about hosting “Origins” on PBS, and he addressed his comments about the existence of God. Neil also spoke about his response to Kyrie Irving and B.o.B. claiming that the earth is flat and Logic getting him a platinum plaque for his feature on “his album. To hear more, including Neil sharing his thoughts on Elon Musk and electric cars, space tourism, aliens, and college, hit the full interview above.

Neil's take on college is spot on. It's not about learning the subjects (for the most part), it's about shaping the way you think and analyze situations and problems.

Moronic Neil DeGrasse Tyson accused Bill Maher of failing to change with the woke times and having “given up on an entire generation.” “I’ve given up on any place that doesn’t even remotely attempt to believe in free speech,” Maher retorted. “And thinks that anything that they hear that they don’t like, that they don’t agree with is violence. These people are fucking nuts and you should be calling them out. Somebody like you, who has standing with kids.”

One Of my professors said you will use 5% of what you learn here once you get an actual job. For the most part it simply shows your future employer that you have the ability to learn. He also said that these colleges are ripping the students off and it's a big racket. All of what he said is the truth!

mikebee6530. I'm not sure if you actually thought this was profound, or just didn't think about it before posting your comments. We'll see. "Profound and perfectly said?" About 3/4 of everything Tysons says is either too general to matter, or completely unnecessary. This statement was the latter. Did you honestly need Tyson or anyone else to tell you this? How many people do you know who don't know they are going to die some day? This little detail makes his pearl of wisdom completely unnecessary. It's about like saying "if you jump off a cliff you're going to hit the ground." Here's a funny little twist on this subject. My grandmother wouldn't get out of bed because she was afraid of the floor. They brought in a shrink to talk to her. He asked her why wasn't she afraid of something realistic, like heights. She said "if you fall it's the floor that kills you."

@@daveblueballz6659 Oh I don't know. I spent a career in the Navy. You can't do that without a good sense of humor. As such, most people though I was a lot of fun at parties, and everywhere else for that matter Especially the brighter ones who could understand what I was saying. Since retiring from the Navy and joining the private sector I still get a lot of laughs at work and social events. And then there is the fact that I'm getting criticized by someone who is trying so hard to be funny that he goes by the name daveblueballz. Which really isn't funny. Quite the opposite actually. Personally, that term has never applied to me, because I've never had that problem. If I did have it I wouldn't advertise it. I'd fix it. Fortunately, I've always been pretty successful with girls, in just about every country I've spent time in. A large part of gaining the favor of the fairer sex is being able to make them laugh. And once you do that. Being able to keep a perpetual smile on their face. And while I acknowledge your desperate effort to entertain people. I'm pretty sure calling yourself that won't make anyone more sophisticated than Homer Simpson laugh. If they do they are probably laughing at you, not with you. The emotion it evokes from me is pity. Which is usually the preamble to the familiar axiom "but for the grace of God there go I. Thank you God! But I've also never been one to turn my back on someone who is struggling and needs help. So here's what I'll do. Whenever you need a few pointers on how to make people laugh with you. Or gain the favor of a member of the opposite sex. Who will probably be in the same boat as you. All you have to do is ask. Maybe I can help you change your current handle to one that is a bit less humiliating.

Well, Neil Degrass Tyson seems to think that gender is superficial. He figured this out by doing an experiment on a subway in mid winter. He looked at everyone around him to see if he could determine their gender. And he didn't have a problem telling them apart even though they were wearing bulky coats that obscured their body shape. And he realized the only way he could tell them apart was that the women wore makeup and plucked unwanted hair from their face. And this made him realize that gender is superficial and there are many genders. Yeah, he's a regular Einstien.
