I also use Nektar impact LX61 with reason :D Love it.

I learned the hard way that many controllers don't work with Reason. Bought an MPC Element at the same time I bought Reson 8, and it wouldn't work. I use an Korg MS-2000 as a generic MIDI controller, but only portions of the knobs work at all. Mostly just the keys. Sucks.

How does the Nektar control parameter knobs on the mixer, such as compression ratio, threshold and release in the compression section of each track, and LPF and HPF in the EQ section, and the FX send return amounts? Or can't the Nektar do any of this?

The soft take over feature is very cool, my old M-Audio Axiom 49 didn't have this so I would never use the faders.

I find it a tad odd that you didn't mention why you passed over the Panorama.

I got the Novation Impulse 49-key. The keys have that semi-weight feel, though I'm not a pianist either so it messes with my playing ability. It's also a lot heavier. I understand that the Nektar Impact only weighs about 5 pounds or so, which can be convenient. I was thinking about getting a Nektar so I could get Bitwig 8-track & then get a discount on Bitwig 2. However, now that Reason is supporting VSTs, I don't really need Bitwig right now. It can wait. :-)

I have nektar panorama p4, it controls almost everything in reason. There are just not a lot of videos on it, would you be able to do video tutorials on that controller?

I had everything working on my Nektar impact lx49+. And for some reason I installed ablation the transport on my Nektar stop working. Can you give me a few steps to trouble shoot and fix this? My main DAW is Reaper. I need to the transport working. Any help will be appreciated.

Considering whether to get the Nektar Impact LX49+ or the Novation Impulse 49. Both have good faders, knobs etc (even though Novation has 55mm faders vs 30mm from Nektar), transport and so on. The big difference are the keys. I checked the Nektar out and even though they are dynamic the keys feel a little plastic vs the semi-weighted keys of Novation. Also the Novation is much older than the Nektar and I'm wondering if this has any influence on the actuality of its drivers for Windows. I used to have enormous problems with my old controller (M-Audio Axiom 49, never again!) in this field. The price is not a huge dealbreaker as the difference between both is not too big. Compatibility with Reason is assured by both, but I'm worried by the lack of official support on Nektar of Ableton Live, which I also sometimes use. Any ideas/advice? Oy yeah, also one specific question: does the Novation Impulse also feature 'soft takeover' faders & knobs?

Difficult choice between lx25+ and arturia minilab mk2. Minilab seems to have higher quality keys; at least in Amazon reviews nobody has complained about minilab keys while there are some complaints about lx25+ keys being too soft or too hard or loose etc. - the same as Philo Beddoe critics in the comments somewhere below here. Also, some people report that after a few months of use pitch wheel and parameter controllers wear out and so their values start jumping all over the place. I like the idea of lots of controls on lx - I hope to be able to do step recording of midi tracks and listening to the result without touching mouse. I think it should be doable with transport buttons and some buttons mapped to back/forward actions for midi track. But if arturia minilab mk2 has better keys (although mini), then I'd prefer that ... Still not sure.

if you want a daw for producing in studio but also good for live ...go fo bitwig 2, very flexyble it has the best of reaosn with his modulators 24 different kind ... routing as well sound design possibilities extended but also it has the best of ableton such as Clip launcher and more controller mapped... bitwig its the best daw of 2017 right now for me even if reason has vst usppor tnow
