The reason for their sad faces in the beginning is that they are paying respects for the X-Japan members who have passed away.

I'm sure someone has probably brought this up, but there's a great cover of "Kurenai" by Show-Ya featuring Saki and Hazuki that's also killer. Hazuki is a real technician on guitar. She does some beautiful instrumental guitar work on her Ibanez demo videos for her signature model guitar, very Steve Vai-ish. Fun Fact: Hazuki is also a very talented graphic artist.

Tamu is very familiar with X JAPAN songs as she did lots of solo drum cover, collaborated with various musicians as well as with her INSPION group members. She also played this song with NEMOPHILA during their first ever live show - the time they were known as Mayu Session band. Here is the setlist (5 songs) for that show: 1. I Am The Storm, Watashi wa Arashi (SHOW-YA) 2. The Trooper (IRON MAIDEN) Both you reacted before. 3. Super D & D-Completely Lead I'm Me 4. D Absolutely! SAMURAI in the Rain These are from Tamu's own double-sided A-side single, her collaboration with Ladybeard. I provided the information for both songs before. 5. Kurenai (X JAPAN) This the final song of that show and you can also watch them performing Kurenai during that historic first ever live show they had in the video titled NEMOPHILA [ the origin ] Mayu Session - Kurenai (X JAPAN cover) - FIRST LIVE @ Shinjuku Wildside.

Saki pulled out her Mary's Blood "Killer" six string for this one. Don't see her using that guitar with Nemophila very much. She's normally on a 7 string. I love Tamu basically collapsing on her drum kit at the end. You can see her fighting through the burn in the later part of the song.

The original is full band, the violin, piano version is quite recent. The last Live version is probably the best, most spine tingling.

For the original version of Kurenai, the best one is from The Last Live 1997 IMO. And this one from Nemophila is the best cover of Kurenai I’ve ever heard!! “Rusty Nail” is another great cover by them!!

This much like the album version from X. Very well done. Listen to that, to really get the song. The Last Live version is great but a totally different sound and vibe.

This is the normal opening for Kurenai, just Hide and Toshi. Mayu does not speak English. Saki taught her the lyrics and explained them. Murata Tamu auditioned for Yoshiki for his Lady X Japan project. This is the song she chose to play for the original composer and drummer! Surprise, Surprise he was stunned!! He asked her what was her highest BPM, answer 200 BPM!! Again stunned, said he only ever got to 160 BPM. Apparently the project never went anywhere as I have not found any videos of a Lady X Japan. Enjoying these reactions, original then cover!! Are you interested in Babymetal history reaction? 2 Pre-Babymetal, then Babymetal performance of the song in the first 2.

That finger picking is also present on the best version of Kurenai by X Japan in the Last Live, it was the last performance by hide(their guitarist) with X Japan.

This isn't a fair question. If you were locked in a cell for the rest of your days and had to choose between listening to this cover or any version of the original, which would it be? My answer to this hypothetical would be to lock the questioner in their own hypothetical cell, preferably after a hypothetical punch to their nose. Then go listen to more Nemophila *AND* X Japan.

This is my favorite Nemophila cover. Probably because its paying homage to the band that is like a ghost in the back ground for every Japanese band today. X-Japans influence is like something spiritual and will be around for a long time still. Muratatam's own KZfaq channel has a heap of her excellent drum cams plus there is also the X-Japan cover series by Daisuke Kurosawa that Tamu played on. Great reaction of a great cover. I know I pestered you to do this one and the 2 Maximum the Hormone covers quite a bit. Sorry for that but 5his and the MTH ones are just that good. In all 3 videos it just seeps out of the performance and screen how much they love playing the covers. Of the 2 Maximum the Hormone songs I would do Zetsubou Billy 1st and Shimi 2nd. Unfortunately it will be harder to find originals of those songs on KZfaq. I know of no Shimi ones on here. Will go look and post links I can find. Zetsubou Billy: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ps1klq53xNaZZZc.html. This was an ending song to the Anime Death Note. In the show a teen gets a book that he can write the name of a person and they will then die. Bonus Tamu singing some lead is awesome. Could not find Shimi anywhere but it is a certified monster of a song.

Too bad that X-Japan is no longer active. The imagination of these two bands together on stage with this song in front of such a crowd... Mind games can be evil sometimes. 🙈 What the girls have pulled off here is indeed a cover among covers that stands out. 🌸✖️ When I see Tamu's smile during the video and see her at the end, I don't know whether I should be happy or feel sorry for her. :) As with certain other drummers, I wonder where she gets all the energy from and still manages to stay so precise. Especially during a full concert. She's a true beast in the most positive sense. And Hazuki's guitar playing at the beginning gives me goosebumps every time, as does X-Japan's 'The Last Live' version. The violin and piano was not part of the original song, it was something they added much later. The version from The Last Live is a better representation of X Japan and the original song than the version you did unfortunately.
