It was about time that India had a re-look at their education system. NEP 2020, India's new National Education Policy is a revolutionary step that can take steps to make sure it remains relevant in the fast moving digital age. Here we take a look at the top 10 things that will change if the policy if implemented as it is meant to be, as usual, in our own way of storytelling.

There are 3 fatal flaws in this policy from the view of Southern states 1. 3 language policy has been brought back, which indirectly enforces Hindi. 2. Vocational education combined with Board exams at class 5th & 8th is another crude way of pushing pupils from lower & middle income classes to drop out of the school education system as they have Vocational skills now to take care of their livelihood. This increases the inequality and the drive for people in lower classes to settle with their skills in local job market than trying for other higher levels of academic excellence. This will negatively impact GER. 3. Education at an earlier age of 2 years is not really good. Most of the baltic countries (like Sweden & Norway) start schooling at the age of 5 years & above and their curriculum is currently considered as World's best.

@@BisboWorldBut really good work team on focusing their key highlights 👏🏼. The major issues with NEP is., it’s like a prospectus. Good and flashy. But how they are going to achieve these goals, what’s the action plan and timeline, and more importantly how they are going to empower and nurture teachers is a big question mark. They are the people who will be ultimately driving this at ground level. With current pandemic leading to double digit fiscal deficit., I can bet that even 4% of GDP spends towards education is far fetched (let alone 6% target)

Can't argue with second and third point, but the first one is a rather good step. I am a north Indian (since you're saying this is a problem specific for south Indians) and I have studied 3 languages in my school, not Sanskrit but Nepali. And I think knowing an extra language doesn't hurt, so it is a good step, provided you don't think from a political aspect, Because if you do then our existence could be up for debate.

All policies introduced by the government are for our betterment and ease of living, but we receive major set backs when the funds forwarded for implementation of these policies never reach the desired place and is misappropriated by the people responsible, or when these people act lazy in performing their duties. Our country will rise to global standards only when we as citizens develop basic civic sense rather than working for just our own self goals. Understanding our duties towards societies upliftment is really crucial. We always blame government’s for any failure in a system, rather we should always have a broader aspect of viewing things and look at that point where actually we are lacking. #jaihind 🇮🇳#mayindiasucceed 🇮🇳

If we are bringing foreign universities to our countries what's the use of IIT'S then.... everyone will go into them only even though the IIT's perform well... I got a seat in BITS Pilani for ME but failed to pay the fees on time because my loan processing has been delayed. I tried to contact the people in BITS, they are blatantly refusing and they are speaking Un-parliamentary language over the phone. What I understood is BITS is ruthless over students for MONEY. Overall, there are only few seats in IITs, and NITs and in that its very difficult to secure a seat for GENERAL category as we dont have reservation privileges.

Coz my mom clearly understands that the infrastructure and the quality of education is far better in a private school than in a govt school. N why is it so? Its simply coz govt doesn’t do enough to upgrade its infrastructure and also the govt school teachers r less qualified than a private school teachers, simply coz in a private school, the management hires a well qualified teacher. And I totally agree with her.

One year old kid, which cannot even "pronounce a word" properly can fulfill its needs either by showing it or by expressing it by whatever means possible. At such a young age, It understands its family members, their roles, their language. That same child at the age of 10, who can express itself very well with words fails in school subjects. Definitely all our teachers (irrespective of the type of school they work-in) deserve a bharatha ratna for converting such highly talented kids into paper weights. Everybody is beating around the bush and not addressing the elephant in the room. Even a cat knows the best way to teach its kittens, but our so-called think tank members of NITI Aayog, Bureaucrats in education department and other "experts" do not know a single tangible step about teaching / education, but are very good in writing a useless 4-paged article in any English daily. Much worse, some retd. bureaucrat will write a two volume book titled "India's Education system since the birth of milky way galaxy" with 5000 pages for each volume.

Autonomy. Let each school decide which teacher to keep and whom to fire. It's the centralisation which is strengthening the bureaucracy. Let the schools have its autonomy. In West Bengal, most of the government schools function in that manner. In WB, there's a concept called semi-government schools where majority money comes from the government but a certain share is collected from the students' families.

I think there must be something like Indian Teaching Service (like IAS or IPS) which is needed to become a teacher and teaching line must be more rewarding to improve quality of teachers because teaching is a very unattractive job in India and mostly people who can't do anything else end up becoming school teachers. That is why private coaching institutes run very well. They provide higher salaries and hence attract more qualified people.

Absolutely right Pranav. One of the criticisms of the policy is that not enough is being done to attract quality staff and make it a lucrative career choice.

I think that caste based reservation is the major reason. People who have been selected as government teachers, reserved candidates were the majority of them. They are favorable only for taking salaries. Then even don't the method of teaching. Reservation should be eliminated.

3 changes required from my side for 2022 onwards.... 1) National language should b English. Second language should b hindi all over India... 2) Subjects should b taught in English only not in mother tongue... Mother tongue subjects like Telugu or Kanada or sanskrit should be optional subjects for 3 years.... 3) Fees for children from Nursery to 12th should not b more than Rs. 25,000 per annum. It means only 2000 rupees fees every month. Teachers will b paid salaries from both school management + govt.
