I asked my cousin who was making a beer run to grab me a $10 scratch off from the gas station. I gave him the money and he bought the ticket for me. I ended up winning $125k. He didn’t ask for any of it and congratulated me on my winnings. I gave him half and he cried. He’s now The Godfather of my 3 year old daughter and I love him like a brother

Only cost that kid $260k to find out what his aunt was really like. Also, he now doesn't have to worry about taking care of her in her dotage. He's young, has $350k AND rid of a potential future drain on his life. He made out okay.

I was playing a fruit machine recently and a pretty young lady came and stood next to it whilst waiting for her three friends. I said have you come over to bring me luck and she smiled and said i hope so. The jackpot came in and i gave her a 1/5th. I didn't have too but it's just the way i am, her reaction was priceless and i was so glad she accepted. Money isn't everything.

This is wrong. The nephew's name was on the ticket just as much as the aunt's. He should have gotten half the money: $611K.

The split was from HIS $611K that she was going to sue him for, but they reached settlement out of court. She kept her $611K plus she got $261K from his share. $611K + 261K = $872K which is HER total share. He only got $350K vs she got $872K. Afterwards, they owe taxes and attorney fees.

She kept HER $611K. She was going to sue her nephew for HIS $611K. However for some reason, they both came to an agreement to settle out of court. The nephew got $350K, and the aunt got $261K out of HIS $611K. What I don't understand is why the nephew decided to settle out of court. Let her sue. He would have won. His name was also on the ticket just as much as the aunt's.

He's young and it had already dragged on for a year. He was legally in the right but at his age and given the circumstances he made the right choice in just settling out of court so he can move on with his young life with a bit of extra money he didn't have before. Sucks that his relative is such a greedy skank but now he knows that plus he had a year to think of the best use of the money while it was frozen during the negotiation. It must have been really annoying for a very young kid to be sooo close yet sooo far away to such a life changing amount of money for a year.

Seriously, I don’t agree how the aunt wasted her money on lawyers, but the kid’s winnings could have cut in half just to pursue the case. To anyone who wants to know. Barbara Reddick passed away on May 15, 2023. She became 62 years old. I don't know how she died or how many really loved her in the end. But I hope she became happy with all her money. The price she was willing to pay for it, was high.
