Thank you for the "warning". The sketchbook looks from the outside but it seems to be much too expensive for what you get. I guess you could even repurpose an old book and make your own sketchbook with your favourite paper, for a fraction of the price.

I made an elastic band to close it. I just bought a 4cm wide elastic band and sew it together and put it around the book. It works well to flatten the pages a bit. I wish Nerdforge would make another sketchbook that is as thick as this one, but A6 size.

I enjoyed watching your review and good luck with finishing this book! I have a couple of sketchbooks I like - one for graphite sketching and drawing (Stillman and Birn) and one for watercolours. The watercolour one I'm currently in love with is the Etchr everyday sketchbook. It has a white cover with a canvas texture (some people gesso these and decorate them I think) but the main thing is the beautiful paper. It is 100% cotton, thick (about 220gsm) and has a choice of hot and cold pressed surfaces - the only downside is that it is a little pricey (about £30 for the UK) So far it has handled everything I've thrown at it, with wet into wet, coloured pencils and dry techniques. (I got the hot pressed one so that it could take pencil work too, but that seems a bit of a waste when it handles watercolour so well, so at the moment I'm calling it my watercolour sketchbook!) When you eventually get to choosing your next book, you might want to have a look at the reviews for this one and see what people think :) Take care!

You might be able to fix the spine with some PVA glue (white bookbinding glue). I'd recommend doing it when you're done though, because this one tends to crack in the spine. I have all three of the Nerdforge sketchbooks, but I'm still on the first one. I have problems using watercolors in the blue sketchbook, the paper tends to pill. Maybe they fixed it in the green one. I do love the spell book look, but I agree it's really big. I also like the Canson Mixed Media sketchbook for paper quality.
