So here's part two of this Nerdy Gurdy build. I'm sorry it took me so long to get it done. I started a new job, and it's taken me a little bit to get adjusted to the new schedule after being off all summer. If you have any questions or any knowledge to share about putting one of these little beauties together, please share it in the comments.

I've been playing hg for over 35 years and I'm glad to see the Nerdy Gurdy is proving to be the best lower priced hg out there (kudos to Jaap for his project), a good "starter" hg (unlike too many "budget priced" hurdy shaped objects being hawked on Ebay and elsewhere)... looking forward to watching your progress!

This is an excellent video. I know I can build the gurdy after seeing this - I doubted I would be able to until I saw this video. Thank you for your work

Thank you so much for these videos. It is the nice side of youtube. Where you get guided through somebody elses mistakes so you don't have to male them. I hope you are satisfied with the sound?

Thanks for the great tutorial. I am in the beginning process of putting one together. What size screws (M?) did you use to secure the end block and brace? 22:20 mark? This is where I am at in the process. Not sure if you mention the size in future videos for other parts. Thanks so much. The video has been a huge help

What was the process of getting one of these kits? I recently got a small kit from Amazon and I really enjoy playing the instrument but it's a bit too small and I was looking for a full sized one, but a 2k full sized one.

What are the clamps you're using to secure the top and bottom parts of the nerdy gurdy?

Sorry for taking so long to respond. They are called spool clamps.

Hi Nora. I am actually finally on vid #7. However I noticed something I am not sure I need to correct. Re: the tailpiece. At the 7:25 mark the large holes are aligned so the right side is on the lower part of the center piece and the left side hole is in the middle. At the 10:04 mark they are reversed. Rt side middle and lft side lower. Does this make a difference? Not sure if I will need to re-drill the holes or try and turn it around. Thanks!

It shouldn't make a difference. Those holes are staggered like that so you can reach the pegs that the tyrant strings tie on to later.
