I don't think Twilight thought she was THE MOST IMPORTANT thing in their lives... I think what she meant was: "they're suffering, becaue they lost one of their friends and don't feel the same as back then".

With Twilight inside the book, the comics actually have a story arch involving them going into books, apparently characters from inside the book can also be animated and brought into the real world.
