Video Description:
Hello health Explorers. Welcome back to ‘Ask the Doctor’. If this is your first time watching, we take your most burning questions that you’ve posted on our KZfaq channel and answer them here for you. We get hundreds of questions daily, and although we do our best to answer each one, it becomes incredibly difficult while still having an active peripheral neuropathy practice and a full patient load. So, what we’re doing is taking the most common questions and answering them here for you. We know that you depend on our support and guidance and we don’t take that responsibility lightly.
[Q] This question is from Everett. Dear nerve doctors. I’ve been trying to find a facility here in North Carolina that can help me with my peripheral neuropathy. Can you please help me?
[A] Hi Everett. Well, here’s the challenge. Trying to find an experienced doctor who knows how to treat and reverse peripheral neuropathy is like trying to find a needle in the haystack and that’s because there are less than 1% of doctors here in the U.S. that know how to reverse peripheral neuropathy. We’ve called many doctors in different states who advertise they treat peripheral neuropathy and we’ve questioned them over the phone as to how they would handle certain cases. Well, we very quickly realized that they were really pretty clueless and lacked experience. They thought they knew how to treat it but in reality, they were so far off the mark. That’s one of the reasons we are putting together a Neuropathy Training program for doctors, because there just aren’t enough who know what they’re doing. But here’s what you can do in the meantime. You can set up either a Zoom or telephone consult with us. We work with peripheral neuropathy sufferers across the U.S. and many international countries. We spend up to 1 hour going over your past and present medical history and formulating the best course of action for your nerve recovery. You can find out more about this on our website: nuphoria.com. Thanks for your question.

I worked in a hospital 20 years and rubbed elbows with doctors pretty much every day. Not only do many of them not know how to treat certain conditions, they couldn't care less about how to treat certain conditions. They do the bare minimum to stay out of trouble by incorporating their usual diagnosis. I often saw doctors prescribe SSRI's because they felt the patient was just making up pains they were having.

Thank you Dr's for your excellent service and commitment to helping those of us with peripheral neuropathy. I'm in durban south Africa and we don't have access to the excellent supplements you prescribe. So I'm trying to take a combination of the ala - can't get r-ala here. .. l-carnitine benfothaime b12 can't get p5p here foliate L-citrulline so instead of taking one capsule with all the necessary ingredients I'm taking about 6-7 different capsules powders tablets. This is rather expensive but more taxing taking so many supplements and I'm not sure if I'm taking the correct dosages. I've started since May and I'm feeling some improvements but guess I have a way to go to completely heal my nerve damage.

@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors Жыл бұрын
Hi Suzy. Unless the decompression is severe and/or causing bowel or bladder incontinence, I recommend that it's only an absolute last resort when everything else has been tried. Almost 50% of nerve decompression surgeries fail within 5 years and the problem comes back. I would first suggest a treatment called Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression, first. (if the area is your spine),

Hi Prema Raja, Yes, I can certainly recommend a couple of different units for you. You should know that a PBM medical device that functions at the proper wavelength and has the appropriate power output will not be inexpensive. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for in quality and effectiveness. So, the units I recommend and use for my patients are Neuropacalm (formerly-Neurolight) and Healthlight. Hi, Elaine Cole. Most red-light therapy pads to not have the right kind of power or infrared lighting that is best for nerve repair. They are either too weak, or do not have enough of the right type of light. The first thing to consider is the wavelength. We recommend wavelengths between 620nm and 750nm for the infrared, and between 810nm and 1100nm for the red light. Furthermore, energy output plays a huge role. For the energy of the light, you want to look at the joules, not the wattage. We recommend a minimum of 2,300 joules for nerve repair. Another consideration is surface coverage. Wands and smaller pads may not provide adequate coverage to serve the regeneration purposes. Lastly, pulse moderation is needed. Nerves can acclimate to continuous energy from the infrared devices, and result in less of a reaction to it over time. Pulsed lighting continues the stimulation for the nerve repair. To learn more about infrared therapies, you can check out our videos where we cover this and other aspects of light therapy in more depth: Healing with Light kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hLSId9h3yJvHeIk.html How to Avoid Buying Infrared JUNK! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7ijl7KJrcqxeZc.html

Thank you for trying to help us. Mine unfortunately was caused by the Pfizer vax and this had been confirmed by the hospital. However, amytriptolene was useless and I have almost given up. I have ordered some R lipoic acid and this is my last hope. What i wanted to ask you was, is it possible that even though it starts in the burning feet and legs, can it spread to the spine. 7 years ago i had a compression fracture at T5. I coped well with this and remained active until i got the PN. Now my back is so bad I can barely move apart from the pain in my feet which i have to tolerate. Nothing is helping, cocodomol lasts for about half an hour and a 10mg diazepam approx 2 hours if i dont move around much and certainly do not raise my arms which sets it off. I realise and appreciate how busy you are but i just don't understand how it suddenly seems to be affecting my spine and my whole body in fact. Is this a coincidence.

Hey Elaine Cole, I'm sorry you have had to endure this. Commonly peripheral neuropathy starts in areas farthest away from the heart, and it can progressively spread if untreated. If you'd like to find out more about a treatment plan, I'd encourage you to set up a consultation with one of our doctors. I've attached a link below to our two types of consultations. I hope this helps! healmynerves.com/collections/our-products/products/consult-with-neuropathy-specialist? healmynerves.com/collections/our-products/products/ask-the-doctor?

I am dealing with the same thing- I am certain that the Moderna COVID vax (bivalent booster) led to my peripheral neuropathy. My family doctor is either clueless on peripheral neuropathy or just disinterested in getting to the root of the problem and treating it. Lyrica and Gagapentin only made things worse so I stopped them. I have been taking the R-Alpha Lipoic acid and Acetyl L Carnitine for 5 months now- but seem to be stuck at 300 mg/day R-ALA and 500 mg Acetyl L Carnitine. Dosing higher than that seems to make me itch. My feet are killing me (burning and pain) and it seems to be spreading up my legs- scary. I am not pre-diabetic and otherwise, in good heath for my age (68). Until this happened, I was happy and active- a triathlete- now I cannot do much of anything. Like you, I am worried because it seems to be spreading throughout my body. Recent research reflects that the recommended treatment for adverse neurological side effects from the COVID vax is long course corticosteriods (assuming your doctor will even consider treating you) , but I am wondering if this has other PN side effects????

@@keegsmum Diet is also very important. I transitioned to an organic whole-food diet. The herbicides and pesticides in non-organic food contain neurotoxins, and processed food is full of salt, refined sugars, and inflammatory seed oils. You can take all the supplements you want, but if your diet is crap, they won't do you any good.

@@johnzielinski9951 I'm also very particular about diet but since the vax I find I am over sensitive to so many foods I feel like giving up. I've given up sugar and salt but even things like peas, mange tout, sweet potato and butternut squash upset me. I read they contain mannitol. Also my thyroid is far worse, I have Hashimotos but my TSH was always okay and went up to 8. I was given 25mcg of thyroxine but can you believe made me feel ill and does with many others as it contains mannitol of all things.

My daughter has Transverse myelitis and when I read the trials of the astral zenica had caused TM in some people my daughter refused it as she was worried it would lead to MS and was prepared to lose her job. NAC supplement might help. Apparently in Germany doctors prescribe r lipoic acid 3 times a day

The VA has some brilliant doctors doing research on neuropathy & other Gulf War related conditions, but they are just not training the doctors that deal with patients. Veterans currently have fewer treatment options than regular citizens. The VA doesn't know about the research with atropine & pirenzepine or pulsed IR light therapy. No one there is qualified to administer IVIG therapy(the type needed to facilitate nerve healing). The chiropractors are not very skilled & the sessions are too far apart to provide effective pain relief. Occasionally, a PCP will recommend certain supplements & fail to warn the patient not to consume energy drinks, resulting in health complications. We would appreciate it if you would approach the VA with your training program.

Hi David. We spoke before on this station. In fact it was back in March. I remember it very well because we were extremely apologetic and gave you a direct line to give to your friend so that he/she could reach us directly, however, we never heard from your friend. Back in March we were grossly understaffed with telephone operators. We could not keep up with the incoming flux of calls and messages nor could we keep up with the emails. I'm pleased to say, that situation has changed. We have a full team of telephone operators and email correspondents so that NO CALL slips through the cracks like your friends. Our operators work from 9am-5pm EST. Any call that comes in after that (or email) will be answered the next business day. We do not have operators on during Saturday or Sunday. Once again, we offer our most humblest apologies to you and your friend, but we are completely accessible now. Blessings.
