1) I’m VERY surprised that Konami signed off on adding Legends. Now I’m hoping for a 3D Anniversary Collection. 2) Devil World in the US for the first time is big 3) I can finally try out The Mysterious Murasame Castle. Iirc, Hideki Kamiya was interested in making a game with this IP. Overall, a very solid lineup.

Back in the day I wanted Sakurai to make a Kid Icarus: Uprising sequel where he meets Takamaru and they clash with Japanese folk. Pit would still do air missions while Takamaru does the ground missions.

It’s crazy to see Nintendo added Castlevania Legends in it since both of the canon Castlevania Game Boy games are on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection as well as adding Devil World in and plus we finally got The Mysterious Murasame Castle in the Nintendo Switch.

@baalfgames5318 it's not that it's bad it's just a game that was made post Symphony of the Night that Igarashi wasn't involved with. Same as Circle of the Moon and Castlevania 64. All of those games are now non-canon - it was partially done to clean up the time line a little.

@@Raytheman581 Sonia Belmont falls in love with Alucard and they have a baby together. This takes place before even Castlevania 3, which implies the entire Belmont lineage is descendent from Dracula. Yeah, I think Igarashi made the right call non-canonizing this game.

Devil World is FINALLY making its North American debut outside of Smash Bros. (where Devil appeared as an Assist Trophy in Brawl onwards and Tamagon appeared as an unused trophy in Melee only accessible via Action Replay), and I'm pretty hyped to play it!

IIRC the 3DS version was still only in Japanese, though honestly you didn’t need English at all to play it. I assume this is the same, like with super star stacker and panel de pon and joy mech fight, and a few other games

Castlevania Legends wasn't even included in the Castlevania collection along with the other Castlevania Gameboy games so to see that being added to NSO is a welcome addition especially if you already have the Castlevania collection.

Ah yes, the infamous Castlevania Legends which was meant to act as the prologue to the entire Castlevania series until it was retconned and replaced by Lament of Innocence. Despite its disastrous end in the series' canon, it still has my favorite version of Bloody Tears.

You'd think after making Takamaru an Assist in Smash and a Sound Effect in Mario Maker for so long, they'd make his game of origin available outside of Japan sooner. Regardless, I'm pretty excited to finally play Mysterious Murasame Castle now. Edit: apparently it was on the 3DS e-shop too. Funny how I never realised that until now.

A smash spot is unlikely given smash has become so big and it’s harder to justify adding such an obscure character with so few requests when there are so many big characters vying for a shot in smash. If it was back in the Melee or even Brawl days he would’ve had a much better chance, when we were getting retro characters like Ice Climbers, Pit, Mr. Game & Watch, and ROB Don’t get me wrong though, I’d love for him to be added. Always a fan of obscure Nintendo history being represented in the modern era. Though I think before him we should get an Advance Wars or Rhythm Heaven or Golden Sun character first lol

@@IceBlueLugia Yeah, but come now. Too obscure? The only way for people to know who he is is if he was playable to be with. Not to mentuon, since his game on the NSO and 3DS Eshop, he slowly gained a new audience who were at least mildly interested.

@@IceBlueLugia Too obscure I don't think that enough to not put Takamaru in smash. I would like an advance wars and a golden sun . But Smash is a game when the characters you play should be fun and the amount of moveset he have is in his favor.

@Jordan3DS square enix will never add anything to switch online. Ff dawn of souls would have been perfect to market pixel remaster for those who want peninsula of power or soul of rebirth. For those who feel mp pool is too easy, you can self-inflict challenges like using a monk with red mage replacing a white mage, as monks get hit hard by magic. I'm just glad some stuff is on mobile that works unlike ff9, and dq8 has that Google remaster hack for voice acting and skill resets, with an instant alchemy pot. Just glad nintendo is trying despite making bad press with tournaments. No original super mario rpg neither given revisits are for those who don't need much new similar to final fantasy 4 PR where 3d had augments (and mobile easy mode as hard mode is torture, just don't give Kain defender before rejoining forthe last time as it disappears).

The one Castlevania game Igarashi banished to the shadow realm of "not canon", a maze game that didn't make it to the US because of religious theming, and the arcade version of Zelda. Neat.

But when Portrait of Ruin came, The printed timeline also included Castlevania Legends. Although Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is not in the printed timeline because the game was never released until 2008. But I think the time period of Order of Ecclesia is 1810 or 1815 which is before or after the war of 1812.

Oh wow! All three are really nice picks. :) Devil World and Mysterious Murasame Castle are great additions for being Japanese-only originally. Yes, the latter was available via the 3DS eShop, but stilll... Castlevania Legends is notably missing from the Castlevania compilations released thus far. So having Nintendo add it to NSO will just have to do.

Honestly a fantastic selection. I know Castlevania Legends is divisive but it's great to have here, Mysterious Murasama Castle should of been here soon but I'm so happy it's free from the 3DS, and seeing Devil World is fantastic. I don't think it's ever seen a North American release and it's such a cooky game I'm so happy it can be played officially

What an excellent crop of games for this drop! _Castlevania Legends_ (which never got a 3DS Virtual Console release and was passed over for inclusion in the _Castlevania Anniversary Collection_ ), _The Mysterious Murasame Castle_ (which only saw a Western release on the 3DS Virtual Console and not the Wii U one), and _Devil World_ (which finally gets a US release after not getting one for SO LONG)? CV Legends was very rare. Weird it wasn’t included in the CastleVania Anniversary Collection or the GBA Collection. We finally got it so no more breaking the bank. Devil World finally in the US, along with its Christian Dragon hero!

I’ve been slowly collecting all the Castlevania games this past year and Legends was the final one I needed to complete the collection but a used copy is at least $200. I’m so happy it got added so I can play it finally!

They already did with the former, but because they don't give a flying care about preserving their older games all that much anymore, they yanked the game off their online paywall and haven't brought the game back since then. What makes it sad is that Nintendo of America did a competent job with the translation of the character dialogue. Also, you mean Gaiden for the later.

The Mysterious Murasame Castle is that one game Nintendo loves to show us yet does nothing more than reference and port. It's in Pikmin 2, it's in SSBU, it's in SMM2, it's even in Nintendo Land. I don't understand why they won't do anything more than say "Hey look we made this" even though they've said it a million times.

Hmm, not too shabby. Pretty fitting that they would release a Castlevania game and Devil World on NSO on Halloween, plus the fact that it's one of the few pre-SotN Castlevania games that weren't included in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection. Although I am kind of shocked that they didn't add Devil World and The Mysterious Murasame Castle to NSO until now, especially since those two games were represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate through Assist Trophies.

Job well done Nintendo. Legends is a very expensive and I'd argue unfairly hated on game, and you're giving a lot more people a chance to play it now than ever had the chance to do before.
