The height of sophistication for me in the '70s was having lunch at Strawbridge & Clothier's mezzanine restaurant. It was a toss-up between that and Woolworth's Harvest House Restaurant for above average fare. Saturdays in 1969 through 1971 up to twenty of my junior high school friends and I would see a movie at the Premiere Theater, get something to eat then wander the mall. Girls and boys out for a good time on a Saturday. I'm sure that we were loud but I don't remember anyone getting into any serious trouble. 5 PM or so, our parents would come and scoop us up and take us home.

The anchor store by the fountain was a Strawbridges.....also..the dioramas along the Strawbridge wall..depicting historical events is pretty cool..

Our teacher had the class write a paper on 'The History Wall at Neshaminy Mall Fascinates Me' in 1968. 7th grade it was. Sister Francine Marie. I can 'see' the dust motes drifting lazily in those shafts of light getting through the venetian blinds as the good sister is saying this. It would have been in the early parts of 1968 because that side of the building got the afternoon sun and by late-April the heat would begin getting uncomfortable. So, we wrote our papers and turned them in. I don't remember any waving hands to get sister's attention to get out of the assignment because by that time everyone had seen the History Wall.

Your video summarizes our recent experience there. I think the lights were even shut off on one side of the mall.

That Mall reminds me of Granite Run in Media a few months before closure / eventual demolition. It also has a "feel" of how Exton Square Mall appears currently (patron-wise). Its a shame because ALL these Malls were "jumpin" with buyer traffic up to a little over 30yrs ago, John. ☹ Thanks for the "tour" 👀👍

The Anchor store you were talking about by that indian statue and the fountain was Macys which closed down about 2 years ago it might have been strawbridges before that not sure🤷

I may be wrong because I haven’t been in Neshaminy since covid, but I just feel like a lot of the stores I used to know aren’t there longer. It also looks like a lot of shops are closed now.

Was there today to eat lunch at the food court... the mall is now on life support. A few more stores are closed now. The main draw right now is Boscov's and the food court.

Sadly, this mall (like all others) is on the way out. I've been shopping here since the early 70's. Back then it was so crowded you could barely walk through the mall without stepping on someone's ankle. My Grandmother used to take me to the 2nd floor restaurant in Strawbridge and Clothiers overlooking the mall fountains. I highly doubt Neshaminy Mall will be around 1 year from now. I suspect the AMC theater will go with it.

Neshaminy of course as you said Captain being a tribe of American Indians from Pennsy way back in our history...I hope that Mall can still be maintained and stay open in business..

This is My Mall...was there Thurs..around 2pm...for 2nd Pfizer shot...There was a good number of People shopping/walking around...was nice to see...Where you saw the Ad.for medical offices..was a Sears....really sad when that closed...before covid heard talk of making it into a bowling alley/arcade...damn virus
