First I want to say you are a GODSEND!!! Not everyone is tech savvy, and for Google to set something like this up with no Customer Service reps or personnel to call for help/assistance is really inconsiderate. I had to go to my next door neighbor for them to assist me, but I don't want to become a pain to them. YOU ARE NOW MY GO TO PERSON. You truly represent TEACHING because I can honestly say when you can walk away with knowledge you did not have previously, you have performed a job WELL DONE!!! THANK YOU TEACHER!!!

So may man video guy, thanks. I think you skipped the most important question or the fucking issue we have with this garbage of an equipment. Why does it bypass the auto schedule settings for no reason in the middle of the night and run its own for some reason? What takes precedence, the manual setting or the auto setting?

My apartment, which has only a heat pump, doesn’t have a C wire. I live in Phoenix so in the summer I’m not too worried about the battery running low or the Nest having to try to charge the battery when the system is off because the AC runs so often. However, in the winter I rarely run the heat because it just doesn’t get that cold that often. I’ve read that when the system doesn’t run often enough, the battery may run down or it might “pulse” power to charge the battery which can cause problems with the HVAC system. I’m wondering if just scheduling the fan to run periodically during the winter will be enough to keep the battery charged without it trying to pulse power to get a charge otherwise?

Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off??

I would only use the nest for heat that said when I set the heat to 70 does the nest shut the heat off as soon as it hits 70 or does it overshoot the temp. I ask this because I have an old honey well thermostat that did this and I like the feature.

With the Gen 3: amzn.to/3n9rq5J it will turn off exactly at 70 I haven't had any issues with it overshooting. In my experience and I can't explain why the temperature sensor in the Nest E seems less accurate.

Does this work with a newer 2 stage furnace?
@OneHourSmartHome
@OneHourSmartHome Жыл бұрын
Yes it will but it will only enable 1 stage. For 2 stage furnaces I recommend the higher end Nest Learning Thermostat: amzn.to/3R6sUxN which works great with both 2 stage heating and cooling. This video explains the difference between the different Nest Thermostats: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gr2opJyLrMCbaIk.html I highly recommend watching it to figure out what Nest Thermostat is best for your HVAC system.

Rotate until you get to the gear/SETTINGS and then press the tab. You will see SCHEDULE and from there, set -points for each weekday + weekend. A blue dot is what the set temperature is (red for heating - I think) and you can clear those out by moving bezel to get the the vertical bar over a dot, upon which it will be a little larger/brighter. Press the tab and you will find options, one is DELETE. Rotate bezel to highlight DELETE, press tab. You should return to schedule for that day/weekend, but now the blue dot is gone. My understanding is that if you take the time to remove all set points, it will stay that way until a power fail, When power comes back on, I'm told those default set points will return. I am unaware of a general option to IGNORE SCHEDULE, but there may be one tucked away somewhere in settings. Good luck!

In the first minute of this video, neither "air conditioning would turn on" or "the heat is on" means heating or cooling is taking place at that time - even though that's the common understanding of those phrases. What is meant is that the heat is SET TO TURN ON WHEN A THRESHOLD IS MET (same for cooling). The threshold is the large blue/orange number. When heating or cooling takes place depends on the present temperature - the small white number near the top of the display*. A casual viewer of this video would not know that. I am unaware of any display element that indicates that the air conditioning or heating is taking place at that moment, although you can intuit it from the white "IN 15 MINUTES" Also, the white text display under the number is on for a few seconds. The entire display will go blank in short order, so keep it on throughout - and make the text larger, please. * the present temperature is not displayed in a specific place, but moves left or right to prevent it interfering with the tick mark that moves like the end of a minute hand as you rotate the bezel.

This is the most stupidest thermostat ever. Screw you Duke energy and my stupid apartment manager who thought it would be a good idea to have the energy company install these thermostats in every apartment unit. Not only is this allowing the energy company to spy on us and keep track of our HVAC usage this stupid thermostat is just no good. The temp is all over the place and once I figured how to set it up to keep the temp at one spot it makes no sense that I had to set it at one temperature for multiple time frames for everyday of the week. I am now stuck with that same temperature(73 degrees for the rest of the summer). If I do want it to say 71 degrees I can put it at 71 but all it’s going to do is go right back to 73 degrees. I had no problem with the previous thermostat, on that one you set the temperature and it stayed there until you adjusted it again. This thermostat is a good example of what not to do with a thermostat. Give me a thermostat from 1990 and I’m happy.
