I’m so happy for you. Now you don’t have to worry about your coop leaking. My chicks will be a month old next week. I’m looking forward to getting them outside in the barn. Their not going outside until spring when their older and we’re 100% positive that their run is secure. Right now the chicks are living on the back porch, I never gave them a heat lamp because its so warm out there and their growing like little weeds. In about two weeks we’re making the move, they have to start getting use to the cooler weather. I think even though they should be alright I will put a heat lamp out there for a couple of weeks just in case they get chilly at night. Raising chicks is fun but also a little more work than I remember. I guess I should have waited until spring and then they could have gone directly in the barn with a heat lamp, but the way I figure it they will be laying eggs in the spring and I won’t have to wait to be getting eggs. Plus we have all winter to figure out where the raccoons got into the run. I may be seeding the run this fall, I haven’t decided yet with winter wheat or something like it so the chickens have some forage in the spring. We had 50 plus chickens 3 ducks and 2 turkeys in the run and they tore up the run pretty good. I would love about 20 or 30 more chickens but I’m going to limit my next purchase to about hopefully 10 more. Some of the prolific egg layers were not available to order when I ordered mine so I got a few of what I could. Only 6 and I will probably order 2 each of the others I want in the spring. Because we can get pretty cold up here in the north I try to find hardy breeds and they also have to be good egg layers. Next winter they will be able to go in and out at will so if I’m going to seed the run I have to do it this fall. Sorry for the book. I’m procrastinating going to pick up medical supplies at Walgreens, hubby came down with Covid two days before we were going down to see the Ark in Kentucky with friends 😢 I was so looking forward to that trip. I've seen demos and hear a lot of great things about hemp. It's costly but lasts longer and doesn't have the dust issue. I'll be trying it out after I'm done with the bag of shavings I already have.

How secure are the connectors in a very heavy wind?

Is there any way to lock the door so predators can’t get in ?

I use a wood product cat litter for my baby chicks, no dust and their pelleted. It seems to be working fine. I forgot did you get a rooster? 🌺💚🙃
