Nesting on Butler Robotics

This is a tutorial on advancing the quilt using the nesting procedure. I show you how to set up the spacing between design rows, using each step of nesting and what to do if you make a mistake during nesting.

So glad to see some new videos using the Butler. I have had mine for several years and just continue to use the edge to edge designs. For some reason I never used the spacing when nesting. From now on I’ll be sure to use it. I will also use the cropping feature more after watching that video. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

What if you only wanted to nest inside the border? Would you create a box? I assume so but would like to clarify. Thx

Just to clarify. Are you quilting the border or the center of the quilt?

My only question is how far do you roll the quilt? Do you go by where it is on the tablet?

When you're nesting, set the nesting point in the middle bottom of your quilting design on the quilt. When you roll the quilt during the nesting procedure you can roll until the machine is getting close to your take up bar. The nesting point is just a reference point for the machine to know how far you've actually rolled the quilt. When it's nesting design (a design that going up and down and fits inside the previous row ) pick the highest point of the bottom of the row for your nesting point. This way you won't accidentally roll too far and have that machine run into the bar during stichout

While nesting my row machine wouldn’t move??? 😮

You should be able to move it. There is a small chance that you pushed the horizontal lock that's above the nesting icon. Try it again. If it still does it, call your dealer

At the beginning you marked the quilt top, not the quilting area of your frame

Thanks for watching and your comment. You can choose to make the quilt area the size of their frame. I only do the quilt top so it's easier to see the quilt area on the tablet without zooming in. I also find it makes cropping easier with less pattern boxes. But, you can do it either way.
