8/10 it should have been longer, I think a seventh episode that combined “The Deserter” with more Zuko backstory that shows his life in the weeks and after his banishment that could also set up his relationship with Mai, perhaps they broke up because of his obsession with capturing the Avatar. An eighth episode that combined “Jet” with “Impressioned” I think would flesh out our characters more.

I really enjoyed it! I liked Aang more than I did in the cartoon, which it is not saying much. I love Zuko, Iroh and Sokka. I cried! I was a master tearbender! There’s like three changes that I’m like interesting, but other than that, I agreed with the changes. They did their homework, which the first time it happened, I was so surprised. I love Bumi in this.

I'm glad to hear you cried, that's always a good sign. I'm split on Bumi, I think him being more jaded is good writing but it felt like a major change, and I think I prefer the more loving bumi.

@@AvatarTheLastPodcasters I think I love Bumi more jaded in this because it makes it real. Of course he would be. He’s a king for if not all of the hundred year war, but most of it. And he needs to teach Aang to make the impossible decisions. He can’t think like a child when he’s the Avatar, especially in a war.

I'm so surprised I hated it. I think some of the changes in story they made were unnecessary and cause a lot of issues with the narrative, they just shoot themselves in the foot.

Hated? Wow that's so interesting. What did you hate about and what could have been different to change your opinion.

@@AvatarTheLastPodcasters I will definitely admit that I'm the type that likes faithful adaptations I do but my main issue isn't the change in story. I don't like that they centered a lot around Omashu. There isn't a lot going on there, it's an isolated city, it's not a major earth kingdom stronghold, they weren't supposed to be in the war. It feels weird, I don't understand what they are going to do with Bumi. I also hate the use of Kyoshi because to me it doesn't make sense. Roku made sense and the original could get away with using him because he was the avatar before Aang so they'd have a stronger connection which made the original barely escape the criticism that it's plot convenience since it makes sense within the world. Kyoshi is just plot convenience, there's no reason for her to talk to him so much, I know Kyoshi Island was in danger but I still don't think she would've bothered it's not in her character. Also Azula even holding a bow to me is ridiculous I also think reducing character flaws is dentrimental because then there's no exponential growth and that was a big part of ATLA how far the characters come by the end I think that's it's greatest strength once that's taken out the narrative won't hold up.

@@angelb33ts I probably agree with you that they spent too much time in omashu, although I think they intertwined the storylines of jet and the Mechanist very well, like it makes sense Jet would want to kill him. I don't like the bumi change but I think it's good writing. As for the change for Avatar use and them taking over, I don't mind that change, it made sense in their story. I could take it or leave it. But Kyoshi was a badass though.

@@AvatarTheLastPodcasters Kyoshi was definitely a badass. I think it'll end up depending on where they take it from here and how they make it all make sense especially with Tophs story since choices in Omashu will influence that

It's 1/10 at best.... I wish i could give it a minus rating, that's how bad it is... it's so painful to witness, I just wish I could unsee the live action... there's no wow-factor... no emotion... no chemistry... nothing that can make it memorable like the og show... it's astoundingly depressing, becuase i can't unsee this abomination... Gyatso, the greatest airbender in the world, didn't even put up a fight that lasted more than ten seconds... In the original show, Gyatso was surrounded by the bodies of almost a platoon of firebenders... Bumi is portrayed as a salty, dumb old man who blames his 12-year-old friend (a literal child) for running away instead of a nutty yet very wise and understanding old friend who gives guidance to Aang to be a better Avatar... Katara is supposed to be the most mature of the group, very headstrong, brave, and sturdy like a rock. Yet she's also caring and maternalistic, like a mother. She's a very remarkable female character who has faith in everyone and never refuses to turn her back on people who need her. I say everybody should have a sister or even a mother like Katara. That is how brilliant Katara's character is. Not a submissive little sister who needs to be looked after by her big brother, like how they portrayed her in the Netflix Live Action. Airbending seemed okay, but a lot more improvement is needed to show the full potential of airbending (not good enough). Earthbending doesn't have any solid martial art choreography and stance that makes it look like Earthbending. It just looks like people using telekinesis to chuck rocks at each other, like Magneto in X-men. Appa should have more character, as he's a very important member of the team that carries the whole gang on his back throughout the entire show. By the way, I didn't know Momo died because I didn't care to watch more episodes of Netflix's Live Action bullcrap... I am actually fuming at the showrunners right now 😠👿.
