Hey guys! Sorry for the reupload. I'd had good luck using G2A in the past and didn't realize how many issues they had. That's on me and I'm sorry for promoting that to you guys. I couldn't edit the segment out without the video going out of sync, so I reuploaded instead. But let me know WHO'S YOUR MAIN VILLAIN ON THE SHOW!?

If you’d asked me at the beginning of the season I would’ve said Vanessa for sure, but by the end - Mildred on a more serious level because of the DV, and Yoly but less serious because she was just really messy by the end. (Also my favorite is Mal so that probably doesn’t help lol.)

After watching the video I completely agree. Although my comment would be a tad shorter, "I have never watched a reality TV show". Out of all of the things that I haven't done, that and voluntarily walking into a place of worship are on the top of the ones that I have no interest in ever doing. So, cheers Amanda for the reminder that reality - and all TV (I use the term TV as in 'free to air television) in general is utter rubbish.

19:58 As an Intern Therapist, I can confirm that things have to be astronomically BAD for a client to be fired. Like, I've had clients ranging from cases of mild MDD to extreme BPD to clients that have multiple life sentences in jail, and the only client I've ever had to fire I did so because he literally threatened to stalk and menace me
@maliaprescott
@maliaprescott 11 ай бұрын
I wonder if it was less of a firing situation (“fired” was said by the friend, not Tiff or Mildred iirc) and more of the therapist recognizing that they didn’t have the correct skillset or therapy style to help them. That would seem more likely to me, since as you said to actually get capital F Fired by a therapist is pretty rare.
@penina8438
@penina8438 11 ай бұрын
Not necessarily, some clients and therapists just don’t fit well together. A therapist once “fired” me after a few sessions because I asked her if she had any other methods than the one she was presenting, and she didn’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s not great to make assumptions just based on being hired by a therapist, tho ofc I agree irt the show lol
@BH-2023
@BH-2023 11 ай бұрын
@@penina8438 That's fair; lingo-wise, however, fired usually doesn't refer to therapists referring out or ending therapy because their competencies don't encompass the client's needs, or there isn't sufficient fit (don't get me started on the obnoxiousness that is *fit*) as it is a therapist's job to refer out if they can't meet the needs of their client(s) or if therapeutic intervention poses harm. In your case, for example, your therapist would be required by the APA to refer you (at the very least provide you resources) to different therapists as it became clear that your needs weren't being met by their competencies. While "fired" is much more a colloquial term than it is a technical one, I don't think most therapists would say you were fired. You were (or should've been) referred out. Fired usually refers to a therapist, in this case, ending the therapeutic relationship full stop because of other complicating factors (e.g., the client presented as a danger to the therapist, the client purposefully sabotaged therapy, the client isn't effortfully or appropriately engaging in therapy). In cases of a client "firing," it's usually because the client is contraindicated for therapy (e.g., cases where individuals with ASPD or NPD use therapy to refine their manipulation and antisocial skills or use the therapist as their supply) or where ending the alliance full stop is the only path forward because the client poses danger to the (or any) clinician. It's true that there are therapists out there that'll just end therapy full stop without any wind-down or debrief on a whim, effectively firing the client, when the situation is not THAT dire. However, those clinicians shouldn't be practicing. It is also true that what the client considers "firing" and what therapists, in general, would consider a "firing" probably differ greatly

$40 for a DV support group?? When finances is the reason so many stay in those relationships??? That's disgusting
@WynneL
@WynneL 11 ай бұрын
People have to pay their bills. Tiff lives in San Diego California, and it's expensive as hell to live there. There are also plenty of free resources easy to access in a world with internet, and it's not a "getting out of DV" group. That's a shelter. Nothing wrong with being a supplement to a framework already in place. If somebody liked Tiff's personality on the show, and they decide they want Tiff's input, they can pay for it. If not, they can use their internet to search up other help instead.
@WynneL
@WynneL 11 ай бұрын
And if they don't have internet, I want to point out because I'm aware that's the case for some who are badly controlled--that's obviously terrible. But Tiff couldn't help them anyway because their support group is on the internet. Sometimes the only people who can help a severely abused person are family, friends, or those who live around them.

I love how Mel said she saw in herself a good mother while watching the show bc most of these people who are desperate to marry are totally immature and lack the empathy and financial security to actually have a kid. They need someone to "support whatever it is that they want" which is why it's so easy for them to latch onto a mercenary relationship. And Sam as a partner has been so patient with her and I really feel Aussie showed up and acknowledged her behaviours and took steps to heal herself. She really needs therapy though. There’s something really off about the whole Mildred/Aussie situation. I feel like there was a lot that wasn’t shown. Aussie seemed on edge and passive aggressive when the conversation about the bathroom began. She reacted like I would if someone I was upset with was acting like nothing had happened. The comment about Mildred saying stuff on camera raises some questions as well, like was she shown footage of Mildred saying something bad that wasn’t put into the final edit? Even with Sam and Tiff things didn’t feel right, like there was producer meddling or something, because why was Tiff so upset about Sam not liking her dog, when she presumably never said that. The only thing she said that was shown was hesitation about the dog on the bed. This is why I don’t usually watch reality television shows because I can only think about the things that were cut out or manipulated.
@gabby3036
@gabby3036 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, Kennie JD tends to mention a lot about "the edit". Like she'll often point out that whatever she's saying about whatever is happening could be influenced or constructed by "the edit"; acknowledging that the show can create a specific narrative dependent on how they edit the conversations. It's a nice reminder to have because there's so much we aren't shown and the object of the show is to be entertaining and oftentimes that's accomplished by creating drama through the edit.

It’s wildly inappropriate that Lexi brought up Rae and Vanessa hooking up in a group setting, and didn’t she do it more than once? Like fine, you’re hurt because Rae slept with Vanessa. Maybe I would be too if I was in a similar situation, but this is not how you handle those feelings. If you can’t let it go, break up with Rae and stop torturing her. Breaking up with someone is hard, but I think one of the most important things in a relationship is knowing when to pack it in, knowing when you’re at an impasse.

I've never actually watched the show but I've watched a lot of videos covering the different seasons of The Ultimatum and oh my gosh, THIS. I'm constantly thinking how almost every one of the couples should simply break up because if you have to issue an ultimatum to your significant other then they're just not on the same page as you. Presumably you've talked about this situation multiple times and they just don't seem to be in the same place as you and forcing them to be just isn't going to make for a healthy marriage.

Up to the engagement after two years, we both knew what we wanted out of this relationship, but it still took abut three years before we actually married. If any of us had decided that this wasn't what we truly wanted, we had enough time to walk away. Been together for twenty years, married for fifteen. The internet has made me realize that it is not normal to actually have all kinds of conversations with what will become your life partner. I have seen people who have been married for years, but have never ever had a discussion about having kids or not. Then being surprised to discover, shock and horror, that their partner didn't want any kids. They had been together for years! For heaven's sake, people, start fucking communicating with each other!

Also, aussie and Sam are the best. Backing up tiff when NO ONE else did. Their relationship is a good level of trauma informed supportive love. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't healthy. I enjoyed this show much more than the hetero version, but it did make me a bit uncomfortable that 1. There's a lot more intimate scenes than the straight version, at times it felt a bit fetishistic 2. Not acknowledging domestic violence as domestic violence during the reunion 3. How much Lexi slutshamed Rae for hooking up with Vanessa ESPECIALLY AT DINNER WITH HER PARENTS. Like, it's great that Lexi's parents were more reasonable than she was, but she honestly could've put Rae in an unsafe situation :/ in general, it was depressing that Lexi made her cry almost every time they had a scene after the trial marriage 4. Mainly because Rae volunteered the info about her not sleeping with Vanessa then did. Vanessa stayed true to her wanting to have fun during this time and it isn’t fair that everyone used that against her especially Lexi. And of all people Yoly had no room to even breath in comparison to Vanessa. Lexi May have led the charge but Yoly was damn sure acting like her cheerleader and even voice at times.

I haven't watched the Ultimatum, just watched a bunch of videos about the show (Kennie JD videos are fun) but I've thought the exact same thing - I wish I could take my breau on the show (we've been together over 10 years) and then come to find out we're actually really solid and just did it to fuck with everyone. But we hate being apart for long periods of time so the three weeks with another person would be really annoying. But the advice? Oh boy, "communicate, communicate, communicate". Be willing to say sorry first - even if you think you're in the right; like if it was a dumb fight over nothing, don't waste time stewing and just go to the other person. "Winning" isn't as important as working things out and being happy. If it's a serious matter, absolutely talk it out but also be willing to walk away from each other when things get heated so you each have a chance to cool off and come back to talk about it with clearer heads.

I actually think it makes perfect sense that Yoly & Xander would get swept away with each other so easily-because it's the whole question of, what do you really want the most, do you want to be with this particular person specifically no matter what that means your life together does or doesn't actually look like OR do you want a specific life for yourself / need to be with someone who also complements and wants a life together that looks the same as the life that you want for yourself?? Sometimes there really is a whole lot more to making a relationship actually work than simply whether or not you deeply like and care about each other. Not everyone just needs to have their person to be happy/content, and anything/everything else just come-what-may, as long as they're together; most people actually have other needs/wants that also need to be fulfilled in their life/relationship too in order for them to feel truly comfy and content or at-ease. And I think a lot of people neglect that side of things, just falling so deep into the love side instead, that once the other stuff starts coming up they simply don't know how to reconcile the two sides of things together anymore. But the fact that Yoly said "if I were choosing me, I feel like it would be Xander" and then said immediately "why do I feel like I'm making a mistake" after choosing Mal and walking away from Xander should have been the first clue. Like, giirrrll, if you feel like you're making a mistake-you're probably making the wrong choice for yourself! 😅😅🙃😶 I dunno.. maybe they wouldn't have worked out in the long-run either, I have no idea, but I do know that it was pretty apparent especially by the end of things that Yoly and Mal needed to just call-it and let it go and move on .. one way or another . . but they were simply too afraid of losing the familiar and/or facing the unknown. It is a terrible idea to stay with someone just because you feel obligated to not give up on it, because of all the history or the fact that you were the one who issued the "marry me" ultimatum so you'd feel bad about essentially just changing your mind and taking it back like that. SMH.

This show had so much drama, way more than the season before. Vanessa DEF starts off as the weirdo who isn't taking this seriously, but I do believe she grows from the beginning to the reunion. I think she got a lot of hate, especially from Lexi, for stupid reasons. Everyone is there to get a following from the show.... like Lexi is literally a whole influencer now. So her accusing Vanessa of going there for clout is hypocritical and ironic. Lexi turns into a bully against her own partner, Rae, and just becomes a weird person by the end. Like WHY would you tell your parents that Rae had sex... She is SOOO out of pocket lol. Yoly and Mildred are the biggest villain's of this season. DV IS NOT REDEEMABLE. The fact that Yoly agrees with Mildred and doesn't care about Tiff's side is wild. Also, the way Yoly was nasty with Vanessa at the reunion, was so of putting. It isn't excusable because Vanessa was being SUPER tame. It's like... of course Vanessa is gonna bring up them (Xander & Yoly) seeing each other and planning a trip, it's sketchy AF and SHOULD be brought up. This season was so damn messy and I want there to be a new season tbh lmao.

Yoly didn’t want Mal to find out which had her mute for a hot second when Vanessa said that. And tbh, this show needs to have an audience that can ask the cast questions. The host wasn’t doing it for me because my first three questions to Yoly and Xander was how long were they talking after the show, how many times they had sex during that time, and how many times did they have sex during the show? Xander sat there and watched her side piece come for Vanessa and didn’t defend her once. And to top it off, I knew Xander seen Yoly after the show the second Vanessa said they had just stopped talking. I’m willing to bet that’s when they did a trial relationship and controlling ass Yoly didn’t want them talking. Yoly was absolutely phony. Lexi was emotionally too damn much.

I came into this video not knowing or carrying about any of this and left way more invested than I had any right to be. This is A+ content, keep up the great work

Finally! A good recap lol I might have to subscribe because you were so spot on!!! I've had so many convos trying to talk about the most obvious things but people are so wrapped up in other things I couldn't care less about. Well done 🎉

So insane how I have never seen any show or movie Amanda is talking about, but at times like these I am quite happy about it.

I love commentary videos like this because they give me summaries of all the drama and horrors of reality shows, and I can stay relatively unaffected with only half an hour of my time taken up!

Netflix has a "where are they now" article that talks about how people are doing after the reunion. It seems as though Aussie is getting therapy.
