To the people making fun of these people and say I've never heard of them before, the world doesn't revolve around you. One day, the people you listen to today will fade away and you will soon read in the comments the same comments that you did. There are people who appreciate the music that these popstars have gifted us with especially as part of OUR growing years not YOURS.

@@redfernpixelgnomepitcher1377 Most performers experience the big humbling. Its not like they suddenly get a huge overnight shock about it. From no longer having limo's to pick them up. Losing the entourage and having to do their own shopping etc. No longer being in the charts, going from big venues to small. A lot of them would have already gone down the reality tv route, some go into a different career and completley remove themselves from the spotlight. So the tv company so I dont think they'd be too bothered if they did or didn't get asked.

Well S Club 7 and Blue sure did, Some people would call B witched a One Hit Wonder, and I'm not trying to take a stab at them, cause I loved pop music! I liked the other B Witched songs blame it on the weatherman, and Jesse Hold On, The cover of Hey Mickey. But besides a segregated market they were kinda still a one hit wonder unfortunately. But thats ok, some people would say Angels and Airwaves were one hit wonders, some people would say The Eurythmics were one hit wonders. It's to bad cause they were talented I could see them singing songs like that Sarah McLaughlin has sung, or Chantel Krauveatzuc, but they weren't marketed that way. Frankly when B Witched song Blame it on the weatherman was beginning to take stride it was almost like the had a hiatus like their record label didn't want it to reach a higher peak or something. It's kinda a conspiracy theory but maybe the advertising and marketing play a big influence in our influencers like B witched, and wanted them to be like one hit wonders. I mean as long as everyone goes home from work at the record company with their salary, from a bunch of one hit wonders, why excel the effort by creating bridges for them to be able to evolve by working with other talents that could have flavoured up and spiced up their music, like record company's do for people like Miley Cyrus or Tegan and Sara or Little Mix.... I think they do do it on purpose, they give a little and then yank it back really hard, its easier for them to do it in the European Music Industry, then the American one, for example of them giving a little and yanking it back... Mutya Buena working with Groove Armada, that album that song was on was really good! but it wasn't the sugababes, and that was kinda the feel you got from the whole package of Mutya as a solo artist, like it felt like here we go again, cause Siobhan had already been doing it... Look at Rachel Stevens, the awards that she won during her solo career is CRAZY she killed it when it came to scooping up the awards, and she never became a one hit wonder in the States...The States is like who's Rachel Stevens. Hard to believe it's coincidental... It would have been so Camp and cute, if these stars from the 90's during the interview, were fit into the movie somehow with little cameo's, even if it was as tiny as Bruce Campbell as the hotdog vender guy or pizza ball vender guy in Doctor Strange The Multiverse of Madness... That would have been better then seeing these interviews to be honest. or if they did both. I would have LOVED it ! I wish they all made comebacks, but they have lives now, beyond the stupid music industry, they probably look at it like an ex McDonalds employee, like dread having to go back into it.

@@tershii I wouldn't call B*Witched one hit wonders their first 4 singles all went to #1 in charts
@tershii
@tershii Жыл бұрын
@@Willlll1m I'm talking about in North America. Incase there is confusion. In USA C'est Le Vie highest weekly rating was only at number 9, lower in Canada. To You I Belong, was not released as a Single in the USA or Canada, Rollercoaster reached 25 in The States. Blame It On The Weatherman, was not released as a single in the USA, and in Canada, I can't find a Billboard Hits List for Canada Only an Adult Contempary Music List, so B*Witched is doing really poorly as you can imagine this song was number 70 on that list in Canada. Im guessing Wikipedia doesn't have a Billboard Hits List from 1998-1999 so I think my candian numbers are off but they would be lower in Canada, because the proportion of albums sold. An band like this could sell A million records in the States and 100 000 or 200 000 in Canada, so if a song like Cest le vie in the States is number 9 in Canada it is definitely going to be a lower number, because an artist like Usher that sells a million records in The States, can also sell like a million records in Canada, you know what I mean... Anyway internationally B*Witched was kinda a flop. The never even headlined a tour, the opened for Britney Spear and Nysnc That was like the most successful tour they would have had, with the most shows, an opening act, at the height of their career. They were definitely one hit wonders, if you grade by American music, which as far as one it wonders goes, America dictates it. Hence the show S Club 7 In Miami, Hollywood, the walk of fame!!! The closet thing In England there is to the walk of fame, is becoming a Sir or a Dame to the Queen. So I'd say they were definitely one hit wonders. But don't get me wrong, they're awesome there the best I'm listening to Castles in the Air right now... I love them dearly. Missed an opportunity to see Aqua this summer at a Casino a few hours from my house.... : ( ... I didn't hear about it till the day before the concert, I had no one to go with... I asked my mom, whos retired, and she said NO !!! Ahhhhhh. B*Witched will always have followers especially in Europe ! They should be Damed !

My dance instructor has told me about “glitter crash” where as a performer you sink into a post-show depression and go a little crazy for a bit. I have experienced it myself, for sure. Now imagine being a huge pop star in a girl group and suddenly, no more group and no more gigs. The orders of magnitude difference in our experiences of glitter crash have to be huge.
@bighands69
@bighands69 Жыл бұрын
First of all they were not pop stars nor were they singers and musicians. They were stage performers whose role was to legitimize fake music. The sorts of tricks that were used was to have 25 year old men dancing around on stage so as to influence 8 to 12 year old girls into getting their family to spend money on worthless junk. That era was the start of the destruction of music in the popular culture. What you call a glitter crash is really performers who come to the realization that their careers were limited and used up their best years of their life. The real sad part for those performers were when they bought into the hype and actually thought they were rich and bought properties, cars and jewellery all on credit. Many went bankrupt because they were in the dark as to what was really going down.

Absolutely. My whole life I’ve been in entertainment in some form of the other, and I can remember pretty much every band that I was ever in, at the end of the show… No matter how many people were there, I would want to not stop playing. same thing with comedy and acting. It’s like this big adrenaline rush, and then you fall off the cliff and you still have that adrenaline going and don’t know what to do with it. Almost looking for anything you can do after the fact in order to be able to deal with all of this energy you have left over. Still to this day, I feel the after effects of performing. Like an energy that just will not turn off.

It is probably why so many people of that era have no culture or creative element to their generation. They were raised on a mindless cable tv diet of trashy corporate performances that were not real music. When people today wonder why there is no pop music remaining well they can go back to that era and see it developing. Some of them could not even perform basic singing but yet were dancing around stage with little clothing miming and acting like they were singing. When they had instruments on stage the children watching did not even know they were props and actually though it was real music.

Netflix really need to make this show into a series but with all the pop stars from the 90’s, I’d definitely watch it! This is so interesting and all these people were quite a big part of my childhood, I’ve literally just come back from seeing Blue and Bewitched live on tour tonight. I’d forgotten how good their music is (especially Bewitched) and they all looked and sounded really good. I think Duncan and Anthony had the best vocals followed closely be Lee but Lee had by far the biggest stage presence. I’d give anything to go back to those days of music!

It's incredible how much more humble these people are than most 20-something celebs and "influencers" today. This should be shown in schools, as it's way more relatable and useful for our modern fame-obsessed teens than most historical biopics and other stuff they show you. It's important to see that money and fame are ephemeral and don't last, your happiness if it's to be found at all, comes from letting go that this is what will do it.
@kellygreengables3936
@kellygreengables3936 Жыл бұрын
I think the difference is "fame" today is measured by a different metric and it's over saturated. Influencers can be considered famous if they have lots of followers online, but no major impact offline. And much of their fame is manufactured and they're self involved solely because they are the whole production (compared to a celebrity who has a team of management, a stylist, hair and makeup, etc.).

No it was not. In that era many children would still have got to experience good music, movies, tv shows and so on but many would have unfortunately been subjected to the types of corporate fake music that those in the video were part of. What they were involved in was worse than pantomimes that tend to be a local affair for a bit of fun. 25 year old men dancing and performing to 8 year old girls and pretending to sing and play music was and is still absurd.

I think the hardest thing when your fame fades very young is probably finding purpose again. If you’re smart (which many pop stars aren’t lol) you’ll have saved your money. But these people probably went into music thinking that’s what they would do for the rest of their lives, and I think it would be very hard to let that go and try to find new dreams.
