The point of this song according to the book: Most parents think of their child as the greatest thing ever, and that is perfectly normal, if annoying. Most parents will look at their child as a genius even after eating dirt. Annoying yes, but normal. But there are a few parents who do the opposite which is much worse than calling a brat a golden child. This is the case of the Wormwoods, who think of their extraordinary girl as nothing more than a scab.

In the stage musical mrs Wormwood hated Matilda because she was going to take a plane to Paris to dance on a Salsa competition,but she missed that chance by having Matilda. This doesn't justify her terrible parenting,but makes it comprehensible and it mocks parents who hate their children by ruining their golden chances,like they had any fault.

Tha babies are soo cute but I just truly love the parents crooning over the kids more than the kids themselves. Its something so wholesome and cute. Parents are annoying with that “my kid’s the best” attitude, but honestly its so innocent and beautiful when theyre born. And that goddamn doctor had me cracking up. His voice is warm and that dance in that suit is so great! I love this song.

This is absolutely fantastic!! We live in a strange time when the value of human life is being denigrated as disposable and worthless. That a simple song proclaiming the miracle of human birth seems like an original breath of fresh air says a lot about how off balance our culture has become.

Not everyone wants or is ready for that miracle. What is so hard about staying out of others' vaginas?
@hunkerdown2344
@hunkerdown2344 Жыл бұрын
@@mollycblaeser Of course you are right. Procreation and parenting isn't for everyone. Not to be crass, but any human born with a penis is also born with an obsession to stick it into other people's vaginas (or other openings). Like a bee that lives to go from flower to flower, it is embedded in the DNA and no amount of shaming or guilt can compete with that.

While it was cute having the babies singing the beggining in this, there's something so poignant and obnoxious (in a good way) about kids singing it in the stage production, because the kids get it. The entire point of this number is that it's not only a direct contrast to the wormwoods and how they treat Matilda, but it also serves as a parallel to the first chapter in the book where Rohl Dahl goes into this whole stream of thought about how most parents think that their child is the greatest thing in the world, and some hold this sentiment even when the child is a brat.

I'd argue that it still works, honestly. The joke is just shifted from "look at these kinda bratty kids with large egos whose parents love them" to "guys... That really is just a baby"

I loved see the kids with special needs in Miracle good job with inclusion as I’m special needs myself so it’s not very common to see people who have disabilities in shows or films growing up as a child but when I do see them being included in the films make me really happy.
