2:58. Check out this shooting technique man. That was pure magic. Thank you Franz Beckenbauer, rest in peace. You sparked my interest in Soccer back in the 1970s. On par with Pelé. -All the World Cup final matches held in Germany were between neighboring countries & fierce rivals (1974-West Germany/Netherlands 2006-Italy/France). -Both had early penalties given. -The team that scored first, lost. _The runners up ended Brazil's reign as World champions on their way to the finals (1974- Netherlands knocked out defending champions Brazil in the semis. 2006- France knocked out defending champions Brazil in the quarter finals.)

Como se borro Cruyff en este partido, en cambio britner la rompió defendió, organizo, condujo, hizo un gol y defendió un fenómeno, Alemania jugó de forma muy bien inteligente este partido. Vogts, el 4, grabowski, hoeneb Müller, overath y Mayer jugaron muy bien. Hay que reconocer que Holanda en el segundo tiempo creo varias situaciones para empatar y a Alemania no le cobraron un par de claros penales.

Contrary to what was expected, Holland played a game of lateral passes which didn’t have the necessary depth that critics and fans would consider to be a quality of ‘great football.’ They had a chance to come back into the picture in the second half, but lacked effectiveness and luck. In this final it was Germany’s positive play that won; they didn’t need luck.

The Dutch played for fun and the Germans played to win. A simple answer. This is why the Dutch lost. It's well known the Dutch team were more focused on trying to humiliate the Germans for what they did in WW2 than actually trying to win. They lost their heads in the proces and ended up losing 2-1 for it.

@@victorsamsung2921 It's worth remembering that in five of their seven matches, Holland looked for (and got) and early goal, then sat back and played mainly on the break. This criticism of Holland was made to many people before the final but the general opinion was that that this was the hall-mark of a truly great side - able to score an early goal and then do only what was necessary to win. It was a theory that was shattered in the final.

@@gunternetzer9621 Ruud Krol (left back on the Dutch WC 1974 team) said in an interview after the lost final something along the lines of what you said. But it was also hatred for the Germans for WW2 that played a role.
