As an Austrian, I feel there is something more than fitness, it's a positive energy, a deep belief that becomes apparent with every player interview. Rangnick has been doing a great job. He proved his belief when he dismissed an offer from Bayern München and now he is reaping the rewards from his players.

How Rangnick brings Austria on top of the group that consist of heavyweights like France and the Netherlands just shows that he’s not the problem at United. If United just listens to him they would have been in a much better shape.

The Dutch always have problems when they are already through. They need the pressure of going out if you lose. Austria needed to win. The Netherlands did not. This is of the 3rd go through, which is bad.

Cody Gapko is low-key a very clutch player for the Dutch. He’s the type of player who will never get a lot of media attention but is a very good player. Likewise, Memphis answered the headband critics and had a very good performance today. Glad to see Gapko and Memphis stepping up with goals for the Dutch today.

Almost all plays I remember Holland was playing real bad boys play, and most of them they didn´t win. Maybe they will come up with a more positive solution to their weakness then going back to be bad boys. Austria was good, so why don´t you talk about that?

Here's my opinion as a Dutch fan. Austria outplayed and outfinessed us. They had a better strategy. More confidence. And showed more quality. Personally I also like the "upset" of Austria finishing first in a group with both France and the Netherlands. It exposes two teams who most people have high expectations for. But who haven't shown their best (yes! I put France in that category too). Both teams need to up their game. And kudos to the Austrians. (This was the short version. Stop reading here. Or continue reading for the longer more dreary version. :P) But. The Dutch media and fans have been bashing the quality of the Dutch team long before they qualified for the Euros. So, in essence, they shouldn't be surprised by this loss at all. If everyone believes this Netherlands is as poor a team this Euros as they said, then why would you get mad about placing 3rd and going into the knockout stages? I believe we should change our expectations a bit. And start to think the way Germany and Italy used to do when they played poorly during the group stages and still went through. Just be happy this team made to the last 16. And maybe if you work hard on your team mentality and strategy you can still turn it around when it counts. There's also a lot of ifs and maybes on the Dutch team too, as far as players are concerned. A lot of young players who were put there to replace injured players or players who didnt make the cut. That's our midfield. Those players have some potential. But this tournament is really make or break for them. Trial by fire. They either step up or get set back. With no real shot at building up that Euros level experience slowly. And that's also a part of what happened against Austria. There was inexperience mixed with a lack of confidence. Mixed with huge mistakes at the only place on our team where it is not excusable in my eyes; the more experienced defensive line. That part is my biggest concern. We can't have those kind of mistakes again. Especially not against teams like Spain, or Germany or Portugal. So in a way I'm grateful for Austria beating us. And teaching us a valuable lesson. This third game is where we can still hone our skills and do something about it. Another slight sidenote: what the Netherlands lacks in my opinion is aggression. The fire to play high pressure. To make the harder, tougher challenges. The fighting spirit. (People will hate me for this. But in this sense the Netherlands reminds me a lot of England. I believe that same aggression is lacking there too). The only player for the Netherlands who seems to bring some fire and aggression on the pitch (in my opinion) is Wout Weghorst. But he's a pinchhitter and a late game sub in the current style the Netherlands is playing. But we've already seen it twice. He comes on the first game? He scores. He comes on against Austria? He puts Depay in a position to score. And we are seriously lacking that kind of energy right now. All across the board. More players need to start emulating that energy for us to improve. But hopefully we can turn that around before the first match in the knockout stages.

I couldn't agree on the bad guys issue. Sorry. Think about all the football fans, the younger generations watching slaughter with injuries vs. the high class high speed suspence thriller with lots of goals and wonderful moments. When good boys are weak, it's one thing, but the fair play on a high level of the "good boys" is actually the ideal to strive towards. Wonderful tournier yesterday, a feast of a sport! My favourite- imperfect perfection.

We played very bad. But….. we scored two good goals, and had plenty of other big chances. We need to make more goals and than we still are dangerous.

As a Dutch person, it is hardly fun to look at the Netherlands after 2010. Less good football players, always a lot of fuss and, in my opinion, a lot of negativity. Yesterday was a really dramatic match and then in this small country we dare to talk about a possible European championship... we can be happy that we still continue to the next round. If we play against England in the round of 16, it will be over soon ;)
