Of course Haarlem has more , like the Teylermuseum, the Mill de Adriaan (Molen), Amsterdamse Poort Entering gate from the Amsterdam side), Spaarne (river) , kleine Bavo (Beautifull churh) and the Vijfhoek (tiny/small streets) you would love to see. Good to see you're realy interested in history even in the rain ! Thanks for the tour my friend.

Stad means City house.. city hall. It was first a 'jachtslot' 11th century. A castle where the nobles held deerhunting parties. Haarlem was havenly bombed during the 2end ww. Im glad there is enough left over to see. I live in the northern part of the Netherlands, in the most populair province of the Netherlands Drenthe, with monuments, megaliths, graves of 4/5000 years old.

Haarlem is the city I've been born and still live in, I love it. Nice to see your walk trough the city. Unfortunately you didn't visit 'Teylersmuseum' what lies at the beautiful river 'Het Spaarne'. It's the oldest museum in the Netherlands and way more impressive then 'Frans Hals museum'. A funny thing is the question almost at the end of your live, are there any musquito's? The dutch word for musquito's is 'muggen' and the people who are born and raised in Haarlem are called 'muggen/musquito's'. There are many interesting stories about it:-) Unless the bad weather, you showed Haarlem as it is, a beautiful cosy city with a lot of history and nice places to visit. Thank you!

Living nearby the city, unfortunately I never visited one of its museum’s, maybe because we did shopping there ever weekend. We only once did with the St Bavo Church in the center.

In 1977 we were relocated from Amsterdam to Heemstede but I never liked Heemstede. We did all our shoppings and outings in Haarlem,. Later on I lived in Haarlem town and on the border from Haarlem/Overveen/Bloememdaal which is very beautiful. My yougest son was born in 1992 Haarlem Spaarne Ziekenhuis.

New York was first called New Amsterdam. Before the british changed it to New York. Therefore the Dutch names. Wall Street is named because there was the city wall surrounding New Amsterdam.

I believe it is an Anglican Church. The flyer you have has the British flag and maybe this is the sign.

It actually is a reformed Protestant church. And as he said, it was originally a Catholic cathedral as it dates from before the reformation. The British flag on his flyer just indicates that the flyer is in the English language; they will also have flyers in Dutch and probably in German and other languages as well. The Anglican Church is not very big in the Netherlands. Apart from being in active service as a church, the Grote or St.Bavo church is used a lot for concerts as it houses the impressive and famous Müller organ of 1738 as well as a beautiful carillon.

So you missed the concert for which you paid the ticket I think. It should have been an nice organconcert. That is why many poeple were taking a seat waiting for the statr. So you missed out.
