Anyone who is losing hope, it took me 7 years to find the right mix of meds to help me. New innovations are worth it if it keeps you seizure free. Don't lose hope. There is a way to stop your seizures. You just gotta work with your doctors and researchers and have patience. I believe that there is a way to stop seizures in every person with epilepsy. We just gotta find the right path.

@@tony745 Mayo and the surgery was wonderful. A week out, recovery will be long. A bit confused and memory is gone. (part because of the medication). but long term, I believe my memory will improve. Pain is there, but better than a sore back to compare. No downside, in my opinion. I'd do it over again.

The best strategy is to accept epilepsy as a lifelong condition... allow these guys to experiment as they always will.

That's easy to say if you don't deal with Epilepsy. I deal with drug resistant seizures. I went from taking 2 medication to 3 and most I have taken. I now have Essential Tremors stage 4. Though I take so many medications I still have seizures. I had complex partial seizures in the beginning and currently I have those and tonic-clonic. Perhaps you would appreciate the crazy words more if you walked in different shoes.

@@loristevens-ec9jdI have seizures too. I'm going to try fasting to increase my BDNF and hopefully that cures it.

the nuerostimulater surgery cost $100,000 in 2012. The battery and up-grade needs to be redone q 8-10 years. No quality of life and $10,000/year for surgery plus $10,000/yr for meds. Send me flowers. My migraines are still keeping me in bed, in a dark room. Keep working doc

8-10 years I have RNS I got 1.5 years out of first battery they lied said 8 on second battery no way gonna be more around 4 years. After this battery dead I won't do again. It helps but also will make disablity breathe down your neck you won't be seizure so working lol. I wouldn't do it again you spend a ton of money to put a bandage on a bullet hole it just covers problem up all they care about is the data 3 people can see you have a seizure if RNS dont see doctor will say you didn't have one.

All that work when this could be cured with a keto diet. Don't belive me look it up. But people aren't disciplined enough to stay on one and instead would rather down$100,000 on this type of stuff. God bless this man and the work he is doing. But should direct it towards truly uncureable things. Just my thoughts

I agree fully! Have you had success on keto or know someone who has?
@lizzyking.official

I agree that the keto diet is a much safer option, however, unfortunately, it isn't a "cure". It can diminish your seizures and improve your epilepsy a lot, but it isn't a sustainable diet to do forever since you will miss out on some vital vitamins and minerals. Of course, you can consume those separately but especially if you are a woman wanting to reproduce, it can affect your pregnancy too. I still highly recommend the keto diet to anyone struggling with epilepsy, but it is not a long time cure. (Talking from experience :) )

Ketogenic diet is most effective in children - but not all children. Only 10 - 15% become seizure free. The rates are even lower in adults. :)
