I’ve made one of these! I had no clue what I was doing and used sponge cake instead and it did break a little in the transfer going to try this for my 21st birthday thank you! ❣️

The trick with sponges or cake in general is freezing it so it doesn’t crack or break.

What’s your opinion on using cake for this instead of cookie dough? 🤔🤔 because not everyone likes frosted or iced cookies

I’ve never actually tried it but I think it would be difficult to transfer the soft cake to put on top. But yeah I understand why people would like cake butter

Does the icing ever melt after placing the second cookie on top? Or would you have to keep this in the freezer the entire time before serving?

No it doesn’t melt if you make the proper consistency butter cream. But I would keep it chilled in the fridge and take it out about 15 minutes before serving

You can use any cookie. Gingerbread or sugar. I have both

Don't over fill your bags like this, then you won't have to squeeze it from the middle and end. You only want to squeeze it from the end.

When the bottom layer of buttercream comes to room temperature, does the cookie on top start to sink? Or do you have to keep the whole thing frozen?

No because you have the weight spread out over a large surface area

There is no standard size. You can do any size shape letters or numbers that you want

I want to make this for my son's 10th birthday coming soon but I have no clue about how much buttercream I'll need. How do you calculate the amount needed to decorate a cake? Is there an equation for that or is it just experience?

Unfortunately I don’t calculate and they always end up making extra but then I store it in the fridge and use for a future cake
