Fontaine's story is Genshin parallel/equivalent of Salt Snow City arc in Honkai. Both stories involve the Sea capable of creation and entropy, authority transfer, and freeing the region/bubble worlds from the set laws/rules. Neuvillette, Furina, and Focolor play the similar role as Seele, both light Seele (original, eventually Herrscher of Rebirth), and Dark Seele (Veliona).

@@AZTARETU certainly an option, specially if there's something else besides the gnosis that the Fatui are interested in, like the dragons perhaps. I don't see Capitano as a colonizer though. I'd expect that more from the banker or the others (forgot the names). However, if Natlan will closely mirror the Aztecs, it will be more like the local submitted people overthrowing the god of war, with Mc and Capitano uniting against Murata. I also wonder if they will mirror the human sacrifices somehow.

@@AZTARETU oh yeah, I didn't remember that! Perhaps resurrecting the former Archon? I was thinking that we could get a story line where the former archon didn't choose a succesor but, rather, was defeated by someone who wanted the throne. The resurrection could mean the former one would return somehow. Kinda like in Quetzalcoatl's myth. However, the dragons kind of fill this story line already, though we only have Neuv as a reference of what Hoyo could do with them. Or perhaps Murata is the one getting resurrected? Personally, Murata always seemed like an "out of place" name for a mesoamerican and african based region. The Rising Humanity has a big chance of happening. Hoyo has been a lot into the themes of "humanity's value and freedom". If Murata is as disenchanted with Celestia as the other gods, as the god of war, she might be planning to ready her people for the eventual war with them so humanity gets free from those gods as well. After all, it's hard to think about a greater war than that against the divine.

Given that I'm 95% certain the Pyro Archon's going to be a Himeko re-design like how Ei was a Mei re-design, you have no idea how horrified you made me when you said "I want to see a god ascend". Knowing what I know of HI3, that gives me images of Himeko and Kiana, with Himeko sacrificing herself to save Kiana, and Kiana inevitably growing into the Herscherr of Flamescion, essentially growing into the same role that Himeko had. I never played HI3, I just watched the gorgeous cinematics on KZfaq, but the actual players will probably be rolling in their trauma from the thought that history might repeat itself in Natlan with Himeko again. Edit: with the addition of these "dragon people" to Natlan's lore, I have to admit that I have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE which real-world nation Natlan is going to be based off of now! At first, I was thinking India, but India seems to be incorporated into Sumeru. There's an Inazuma bathhouse with hot springs that says they got the idea from how Natlan has natural volcanic hot springs, so then I thought maybe Native North American culture from around Yellowstone. But then I went a little more south and started thinking maybe they're Aztec! But dragons? That sounds more Chinese or Japanese, but Liyue and Inazuma are ALREADY those real-world equivalents. So now I DON'T KNOW!!!!

Natlan will be 90% Aztec inspired. Firstly, Quetzalcoatl in some translations means "a feathered dragon" or "a feathered snake" which is fitting for the dragon people. Secondly, in Mexico hot springs are quite popular, especially in Jalisco region and Southern Lower California. And thirdly, the Aztec Empire (also known as Triple Alliance) was known for leading many wars with other natives, such as the Flower War.

Yes because they are the literal embodiment of the elements in their primordial form while the Archons are impure species who happen to have affinity with that element specifically. Neuvilette was able to turn Fontainians blood which was made of primordial saltwater become real blood while Egeria and Focalors could not do anything like that.
