Did they mention how Troopers pay like 24% of their pay into PERS so they don’t actually make 56K a year??? Their starting take home is so bad. A 5 year Trooper still makes considerably less than a STARTING officer anywhere else. Because so many leave, the numbers must be so bad I’m sure they’re burnt out!

my ex wife worked for the state. state of nevada pay is a pittance. absent me she couldn't afford to work for the state. now that we are divorced i'm certain she's not working for the state of nevada, because she can't afford to survive on her own with the money they are paying.

What this reporter and the State fail to tell the Public is the actual truth! I worked for the State Prison High Desert State Prison for 3 plus years with the pay being 46k to 68k. Yeah looks good on paper, but what they do not tell the public is PERS state pension, we were forced to put in 24% of our pay into the pension. We walked away with a check of $2,300 to $2,400 a month not a week or bi-weekly this number was a month! . Then you have Agencies like Henderson, Metro, North Town, and City which only put in around 6% to 7% in PERS, so the checks for them average $3,700 to $4,200 a month and now it's even higher than those numbers. When you factor in these other Agencies with a better benefits package for the same type of position yeah no wonder Officers are leaving. . Why become a Cop for the State with a 6 month rigorous academy when you can obtain a higher pay and benefits package with other Agencies with the same type of training! The State Agencies just keep wasting tax payer dollars and yet they wanna claim the Union speaks to Sissylak! Give me a break, if the Union is Teamsters yeah no wonder the Correctional Officers for the State voted to oust them and now are going for FOP! TEAMSTERS ARE NO GOOD EITHER PERIOD AND NOT FOR OFFICERS!

I wonder how many of those state troopers violate people's constitutional rights because they're understaffed. Also I wonder how much the budget is on the taxpayer on a monthly basis anyhow. And what are they really doing? Are they just road pirates? I mean there are cameras everywhere. You think they could just maybe use those to evaluate situations? Or just accept the fact that they should only address accidents that have happened on the road for insurance purposes. And stop maybe perhaps pulling people over for something that didn't harm anybody. Just pull over and help when there is an accident and maybe stop causing an accident when you're sitting on the side of the highway and everybody slams on their brakes when they see a cop. That actually causes more potential hazards and traffic than anything else
