The Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12 is the latest instalment of turntables from Pioneer DJ. In this review, we dive into how the DVS and analogue systems allow DJs to mix using their laptop or with vinyl. some day they will finally figure out what a most of us want. A screen on the mixer for selecting a track which can directly play on the turntable. Should have been done 10 years ago. A DVS without the laptop.

So design it. Even if they did it people couldn't afford it because it's really expensive to do. Q Bert tried it and couldn't get into production. Most importantly what does all that have to do with this turntable?

Numark did this in 2015 on the NS7III. The Rane 72 has a display also.

Exactly this. Take the laptop totally of the equation. A mixer to plug in usb sticks or hard drives, no gimmicky links to Beatport or shitcloud.

This product is super neat but still a few months too late for me. Phase is still going to dominate as there are soooo many Turntables standard in clubs but this would be great for a home studio!

Phase is like Beats headphones, trash product with great marketing! This turntable brings back the freedom of just using your deck without added gadgets that need to be connected, charged or depend on wireless signals!

lol because you got phase and suddenly this one came out 😂 this turntable is a game changer because the dvs mode plays directly to the rca which is for me it's more accurate than the HID mode thing.. and if you want you want to play real vinyl, it's a click of a button.. no need to change rca's etc.

I think a lot of ppl agree with you. This does not really make sense for a lot of people since rane 12s and phase have taken a huge chunk of ppl who would be the target audience for this. Also something to keep in mind: Most of the ppl wanting to buy this shiny thing either already own phase and turntables or turntables and a pair of rane 12s AND a standard turntable setup. Since this is going to cost you both your testicles and Im sure its standard pioneer quality (the plx 1000 was quite shit in that regard, also looked very shiny, but when you opened it up you could tell that it was quite shite compared to technics....).

@@sheeshkoment8490 The Pioneer S7 mixer (and others), that's in the video, have the option to switch from DVS to vinyl, as Jamie shows. I use 1210's with an S7 and don't need to cable swap.

after not having turntables for 15 years, recently bought a pair of 1210MkII. I think the CRSS12 is amazing, but I can't see the point if you have a S7 (or similar) & use Phase, especially with the massive price difference too. But amazing product though.

These are exactly what Vynil DJs need. This is a game changer, the rest is noise and excuses. Works right out of the box no gimicks with phase or losing something or forgetting to charge something etc. I'd sell the 1210's and get this. This is the new standard. Only downside is the price but honestly with these, you don't need to upgrade to anything else ever.

As a phase User I love phase Its solid But The shape of it where it hangs around the area where i use to spin up or down the record for those long blends i always tend to bump on it! I like the shape pioneer chose to use because it Just make sence! Phase mwm Please come up with a New version of transmitors for those that agree with me and are annoyed from that horrendous shape you chose i mean why? Why does it need to look so trendy and odd? A simple circular shape a long the way of the 45 adaptor Will Just look Even better, neat and clean. Anyway. Ill see if i keep phase or Just go a different route. Pitty because phase is at 99% perfect.

These are truly a game changer I mean it’s great all around but…damn that price Lool the phase cost around 450 bucks for BOTH your turntables. Maybe in the future I’ll pick these up in a few ish years 😂

With the usual addition of "the Pioneer Tax" I was expecting about $900 a pop. They smokin some real crazy shizzle over there asking $1400 LOL Rane just drop the mkIII that work with Rekordbox already.

$1400 is a fair price, considering that the alternative - reloop 8000 + phase comes in at about $1250.

No the hell it doesn't. 2 8000 mk2s will run you about 1,600 and phase is an extra 350 or so. 2 of these pieces of shit will cost $2,800. It's simple math homeboy. Not to mention the RP 8000 mk2 smash this thing.

@@UONeal hmmmmm..... Better break and torque adjustments. More que pads and BIGGER que pads. Instead of the bs pitch play on this, the Reloops have platter play and can also be controlled by a midi keyboard. A reverse button. I can also Chang users and set STEMS to the pads. There's also a dial to scroll through DVS to pick your track....... Is that enough for you?

Probably still made in the hanpin factory so expect Loose tonearm bearings, pitch calibration issues and cheap componants from other turntables throughout. Reloop RP8000mk3 will be better and wont come with the Pioneer tax.

Also, in what way is this similar to Phase? Phase uses a signal from the unit to a receiver. This is purely based on the turn of the spindle and plater, therefore the DVS signal will fluctuate like a MOFO just like all turntables. Rekordbox does not have anti drift like Serato. For that kind of money, hell no.

Usually when i play in wireless mode turntables tend to go out of sync or not even sync. And the reverse is more of a Reloop feature I came to use and enjoy. I see myself buying these, for my home studio, but I doubt Romanian Clubs and festival will have/could afford these. Cheers to this new evolutionary step of the classic turntable.

Did they fix the tonearm bearing wobble issues all the Super OEM turntables have? There is a small play if you pull/push on the tonearm.

I'm having the same setup here. But I'm absolutely disappointed: The turntable has the smooth running of a 270 EUR Audio Technica one, so definitively not worth the price. Also, you can't use the middle spindle, the tempo fader doesn't have any feedback at 0 % adjustment like the Technics. So, in conclusion you can have the same and better setup from Reloop by at least the half of the price...

Hello, you reported that Pioneer said this turntable has technically improved over plx 1000. However, I cannot see the point as long as the underlying engine is the USUAL Hanpin! For instance, let's take a look at WOW & Flutter: Plx 1000 was initially declared to exhibit a figure of 0.1%, later amended to 0.01%, while Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12 is claimed to display 0.15%. Hence, by just looking at the announced figures, the new CRSS12 performs WORSE THAT the old PLX1000. Not to mention that SL 1200 spécifications indicate 0.025%. What can you say about that? FYI, my old SL 1200 MK2 scores 0.3%, while my new Plx 1000 shows 0.6% on average.

I don't understand the hype surrounding these decks. They're $1,400 a piece and are basically a watered down version of the Reloop RP 8000 MK2 which could be had on sale at the moment for $650. Yeah, the clamp is cool, but who cares if you're not using Serato or Rekordbox? A pair of RP 8000 mk2s and PHASE will run you around $1,700 while a pair of these go for 2,800 with less features and PHASE is still needed if not on Serato or Rekordbox 😂

I know I'm a little late here... But how are these watered down if they do stuff the 8000's can't... The only thing the reloop has is built in pads that control toneplay...I love my reloops but these really are a game changer and if you're not using Serato or Rekordbox then I'm assuming most you're not even looking at these

@@UONeal do you even have 8000 mk2s? Not the first generation, the mk2s. If you do how is this a question? The only thing this has over 8000 mk2s is the clamp. Which by the way, only work well with Serato and Rekordbox. That's THE only thing it has! The 8000 MK2s have midi control platter, they have EIGHT pads and way bigger that you can also use for STEMS, more customizable break options, Pioneer doesn't have torque adjustments either, reverse, multiple outputs, different user settings. I could name more but they're not a big deal. Add that to the fact they cost double the price, you would be a fool to buy these. Get 2 8000 MK2s with PHASE and save the extra $800

@@johnkiz9310 I don't need the 8000's to know that they don't have time code built in... There's nothing the 8000's have that my S11 doesn't except the platter play... And they don't just work with Serato and Rekordbox... They work with ANYTHING that will use the Serato and Rekordbox time code like VDJ and Djay pro which I use with the Crss12's with all the time... Phase does not work very well with DJay... Too much cue drift... The same can be said with Serato and phase but with the Crss12's I've experienced NO cue drift. You should try the Crss12's bc I can promise you if you like playing on turntables you'd really enjoy using them

Lol lets be honest: this is just an overpriced dvs controller with added scratch functionality and onboard fx that are already supplied by your mixer/software combo. No one in their right mind would use this for playing real vinyl. I mean, come ooon, even cdjs support usb sticks and sd cards so you dont have to go through the laborious task of putting a disc into a slot... Yet here, youre supposed to put a clamp on and off after every. single. record. like… srsly? and adjust the feel of your virtual slipmat, too?

@@zukispur5493 Mostly because of the clamp/spindle combo, which already annoys me (vinyl only) when I just think of it. And because of unnecessary extras, that can cause unwanted errors when powermixing (e.g. digital/analogue switch right between pitch and headshell, the resting place for the clamp right next to the tonearm). When mixing vinyl, the cleaner the setup the better, because you have way more room to manipulate the record/tonearm/platter without having care about features you dont need just to avoid unwanted errors. This is exactly why the 1200s are still the gold standard for vinyl djs.
