Thank God for this doctor. I’m 62. I was a caregiver for a total of 17 years to elderly parents and my grandmother. My relatives suffered strokes, bypass, and.congestive heart failure. It started with high blood pressure. Their doctors told them their “hardening of the arteries” was hereditary. They were told by these doctors to eat a banana every day for potassium and to limit salt intake. And of course, they were placed on high blood pressure medications from about age 40 for the next 40 years of their lives. NEVER were they told that consuming animal products was the cause of their arteriosclerosis.

Lovely interview!! Yesterday I was waiting in the lounge for my dentist appt. when I overheard an elderly lady sharing with the doc. that her colonoscopy found a bunch of polyps and that her doctor advised her to remove meat and dairy from her diet. After she came out I talked to her to find out more. This happened in Stanford and the patient is a life long vegetarian. She was worried about calcium etc. since she had hysterectomy. I gave her a little speech like we all WFPBNOs do to whoever would listen and pointed her to Dr. Esselstyn videos etc.😅 And in my heart I was like God bless the Stanford doctor. Seems like he too has put his shoulder to the wheel.❤

same , 3 years, after cancer. nuke nuke chemi radio ehhr ok i did a couple . but then i was like ok lets go full plant (not only to try not get cancer or cure it fully.. but also i want live healthy now and ethicaly till i die. cancer woke me up. burn injury made me vegan, cancer made me whole food plant based diet.) and exercising almost everyday reguliarly moderately but with perceverance intensity devotion (cause huge % of people around me have alot of excess weight and can barely walk , even less exercise. so eat and screen.) and vegan and whole food plant based diet can be unhealthy (if no good recovery sleep exercise, a tiny bit at least heheh ) (and also it promote badly veganism if eating junk. but can be honest "im vegan ethic, but i plant base + junk cause i enjoy food too much, and prioritise ethic and taste, not ethic and health"

When I started 2 years ago there were no half measures, I ordered giant sacks of grain, every herb and spice I could get my hands on and at the supermarket my basket was burgeoning with fresh and frozen veg, didn't even buy any meat alternatives. Now I don't know why I didn't do this decades ago, meat tastes terrible in comparison to my food now. Health wise, I lost so much excess weight, my pulse is steady, blood pressure dropped 60 points, I sleep like a baby. And don't get me started on how much cheaper it is! Great video, always nice to see the professionals spreading the right information, shame some of them can be bought.

Doctors are not in the business of prevention, they're in the business of the cure. It always makes me happy to see a well informed doctor who guides patients through prevention instead of only treating symptoms. I had a friend who's really obese, and a meat lover / foodie. I told her 2.5 years ago if she went vegan, her ischemia / LDL / fat would drop drastically. She got upset with me, and called it fat shaming. Last month she got an open heart surgery and a pace maker, and she's only 28 years old. It's crazy to me people would rather stick to their ways and go through an open heart surgery, then try a well planned whole foods centered plant based diet. Enjoyed listening to this conversation.

Thanks. I'm glad Dr. Chawla mentioned board certification of lifestyle medicine. I will make another attempt to find someone within driving distance (here in central Florida) who has an interest in lifestyle medicine. almost 11 years WFPB. Only animal foods are wild sardines twice a week. At 69 I'm sure my diet, along with daily exercise, is why I'm on no meds, good body weight, and have excellent blood work, including kidney and liver function.

One of the reasons why I think many women especially do not tend to understand and resist giving up dairy is that they bottle fed their own children, while I did the unusual thing: I nursed my 3 children till each was 2-3/4 years old. When I finally woke up to the damage dairy was doing to my body: arthritis; I went cold turkey, transitioning as fast as I could to being vegan. I went after every vegan video I could find, every plant-based doctor on YT to be able to understand how to do this.

Filipino Vegetarian here...but really want to be a Vegan asap. Currently, I'm still consuming few products that contain dairy especially milk, though I put more soya imilk in my coffee concoctions, few spoons of dairy still categorise me as a vegetarian. But my future plan is to own a mini farm and produce more plantbased local and affordable products like milk, cheeses, spreads, sauces, meat alternatives, etc.

i love when vegetarian become vegan. im like the second a carnist consider any argument BOOM potential future vegan or vegetarian. wich mean potential vegan or vegetarian that probably become vegan xD we are so winning. human use language. language say "veganism and plant based diet is optimal" i think world will slowly become vegan just cause curiosity of language and find "oh ok its delicious cheap healthy i get it.. i didnt visualise it. its the same thign withotu corpse i get it.) im not overhyped by the illusion of already convincing humanity of ahimsa veganism plant based diet, but i dig hours and hours and cant find anything against SUPERIORITY of whole food plant based diet amongs tall other diet.. wich make egoism of carnism consider "me first" droip animal go vegan "me firsT" gg you are optimal vegan and not a weak sauce for not being a hunter that clug is arteries. we are so winning . BUT im digging detials. details and details. about Ethic and Nutritions. What do we misss.Nothing absolutly nothing. its the opposit. carnist eat everything BUT too much of non essenital and unhealthy potentialy unhealthy. its just obviously not optimal to risk nonessential nutriment that we dont need "in case its healthy"

There were actually a lot of health conscious vegetarian hippies around in the 60s and 70s, so they were right about that. It's just amazing how long it's taken for their understanding to catch on. B12 supplements took it to the next level, thankfully. Dairy was never a good solution to the B12 problem anyway. It would have been better nutrition with insects or mussels, oysters, etc., but I can see why that wasn't so popular either.

Seen Ms Karyn and Ms Annete, amazing Raw Vegans, one day when I get to do organic planting and sprouting...I wanna try Raw too. I used to do few smoothies a week but in the city where I live...we don't have enough supplies of raw organic plants to use, and that constricts me from going all vegan or all the way raw.

There's plenty of other things you can eat and be vegan so I don't understand why you can't do it people do it all over the world. You don't need organic all of the time either the benefits outweigh the risk of eating whole plant Foods even when they're not organic. And you can grow your own Foods as well even in the city. Or perhaps you need to find a farmers market or some sort of Whole Food store I'm sure there must be one in proximity if you're in a city.

12:05 Not really. Yes, there are a lot of similarties, but humans have the capacity to time-bind, which animals do-not. To date, I've only seen 1 vegan (aside from myself) acknowledge this.

What does time-bind mean? Truly curious:-)
@rabbitcreative
@rabbitcreative Жыл бұрын
@@alethiacharis2480 > What does time-bind mean? Humans have the capacity to symbolize (i.e. language). I'm doing it right now. You're doing it right now, in reading this. By writing down what a person has learned, another person can pick-up that writing, read it, interpret it, and learn from the experiences of the past. In this sense, humans can "bind time". The originator of this idea, or at least the term time-binding, said that plants are chemical-binders. Animals are chemical-binders AND space-binders. Humans are all 3; chemical, space, and time. If you're interested, there's a video series (~3 hours) on KZfaq by a guy named Irving J. Lee that goes into a lot more depth. The videos were made in the 1950's, so it's in black-and-white, with no music and no frills, just you and him. I recommend it, even if just the 1st of the 6 parts. Thanks for asking. You're the 1st person whose asked me what I meant by "time-bind". I'm vegan, in case you were wondering... I don't bring up the topic of time-binding as a reason not to fight for animal rights. Quite the contrary. Cheers.

Animals use symbols and scent quite commonly to communicate things. Obviously not as complex as written language, but fundamentally the capability is not exclusive to humans.
@rabbitcreative
@rabbitcreative Жыл бұрын
@@thesayerofing > but fundamentally the capability is not exclusive to humans. Show me a squirrel who uses the Internet to research nutrition for a new cook-book, or a robin who melts ore into liquid to produce steel to make stronger nests. You can't, because it doesn't happen. Whatever 'argument' you think you have against the notion that humans are unique in their time-binding capacity, as compared to animals, falls flat on its face. I love my vegan family, but the majority of you have a LOT to learn.

I was VEGAN for 2 years. I started getting health problems not regular in my menstrual due to impaired ovulation and low progesterone. I also was always upset all the time and pissed off. LOL I was not fun to be around with. I stopped my VEGAN DIET because I hated wasted money on taking 12 capsules a day just to supply my zinc and Vit B12. Now, I am the healthiest as can be primarily my menstrual is regular and I just feel ALIVE now. I DID ALSO HATED ALL THAT VEGAN FAD SNACKS AND JUNK FOOD. NOPE I AM DONE WITH THAT. VEGANS EAT WAY TOO MUCH SUGAR AND WHEAT. WORSE THINGS THAT ARE HIGHLY INFLAMMATORY.

Vegan is a philosophy not a diet. Clearly you did this wrong. The best way to eat is Whole Food plant-based and that's what we are doing here. We're not eating vegan junk food. We are eating Whole Foods like beans, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. You should try again if you really care about your health, if you don't want to hurt others, and if you care about being sustainable.
