One thing to add would definitely be a puncture repair kit!

Three items I'll add to your list are: 1. Tyre puncture repair kit; 2. Long handled shovel; 3. Lithium Jump Start Pack (replacing your bulky jumper cables).

I think you should also include a lithium battery jump starter, especially if you drive an automatic.

Good sensible list. I'll also add a first aid kit (w/ or an additional snake bite first aid kit), long handled shovel, a tyre puncture repair kit, & a very good torch.

You will need a decent Jack base plate for soft ground for better & safe stability when Jacking vehicle up.

Great vid! IMO if the budget allows def recommend everything 'soft' as opposed to metal, eg soft shackles, soft winch hook etc. Less flying metal the better :)

Ah definitely, that's a good point, I've been meaning to get myself some soft shackles for a while. 🙂

Thanks Daniel, always good to have a reminder about safety. To add to your essentials list I would include a First aid kit, a shovel, a tyre repair kit, a compass and if possible a paper map of the area. Cheers mate, Barry.

Great vid, will help a lot of newbies out! One thing I would add, if you leave home and you have your towball on (and have the same Hayman Reese hitch), you can remove the towball tongue, and insert your snatch strap through the pin. Ive seen some people not know about this, and a rear recovery is the only way, and then they start wrapping it around the towball. Cue me shouting STOP at them before they kill themselves.

Great tip regarding the tow hitch pin! Definitely a lot better than using the towball. 😬

VHF if I am not mistaken is for use ONLY on water, it is a Marine radio channel and not to be used on land. HF also requires a licence. A Shovel should have also been mentioned in my opinion as it can be used in a range of situations starting from checking depth of mud holes so you don't get stuck in the first place, digging out sand infront and under the vehicle which could also allow it to get unstuck without need for anything else.

Because heavy rated bell shackles make me nervous, I've gone to (rated) soft shackles and use them whenever I can - which is most times. Also - I'm keen to hear from someone who uses the new dynamic recovery ropes in place of a snatch strap. Are they better, safer and easier to store? Thanks

Do them old jumper leads work? I have a really heavy set that I leave at home now. Lithium jump starters have really made leads obsolete now and you don’t need another car to jump off. Even the cheap Kings ones are a real game changer. ⚡️
@explorebound
@explorebound 4 ай бұрын
Haha yep they're pretty old, but still work a treat. Yeah nowadays a good lithium jump starter is the easiest solution. 👍

Great video, just a safety tip for people, VHF is only allowed to be used on the water, typically VHF frequencies are maritime communication or military communication. Love the video, stay out of trouble and leave VHF for on the water.

VHF is also used by commercial users on land.

Great vid just a question how the fan running in fridge to you turn fan off or do Just leave fan running all the time and do you think it keeps it cooler thax again
@explorebound

The fan is run through a temperature controller which turns it on/off as required to maintain a set temperature. Definitely works well on these style fridges
