Absolutely! My almost straight long hair can't and won't hold a curl even if my life depended on it! Hair like this can be worn in so many ways, and while I wouldn't have the patience to style it every single day, I am so envious of it!! Love the "black hair is archetectural" line! You should make that an inspo quote on insta/Pinterest/tiktok, heck, you should make it an inspo post EVERYWHERE!!!!❤❤❤

I just don’t understand, Why are you doing your hair is racist? Don’t care what your hair type is. Hair does untamed and not styled is just sloppy. If you’re going to a function, you should style your hair. I don’t know anyone have any recent doesn’t do anything to the Hair for an event. Is it blk people make everything about race? Why is doing your hair a bad thing?

Neither do I. Probably because I see beauty beyond any stupid stereotypes and prejudice created by purpose to divide people. Im always surprised, anytime I hear something like the comment given at work about the hair. The hair, skin, weight, or any other thing that makes us US should be er be pointed out in negative way and it tells more about the commenter than somebody that receives this. The best way for all of us, as we all get it sometimes is to say or just think facing it to the “sender” “Thank you but I dont receive it, take it with you”

Same! I have changed my hair color for jobs ,stayed in braids. Big chop 3-4 times ! Changed the color .. 😂 My hair is thick to manage. I have 4B4C hair. I also was ashamed to wear my natural curls and didn’t know how to properly wear styles, or even maintain my natural curls without a relaxer growing up as a child, because it was so thick Now at 31 I never thought after 15 years I would embrace my natural curls and being in this natural girl era, wanting to actually wear my natural hair, and even buy yaki / kinky straight hair bundles to match my actual hair texture to extend my natural hair!

It’s BEAUTIFUL to see you loving and accepting all of tourselfyourself. Your hair really is your crowning beauty. I went to a convent s as a child ( I’m white with type 3c curls) one of the nuns told me lots of mean things about my hair, including that it needed taming and was wayward. Now I wear my curls with pride. They want us to feel like sh*t because then they’ve won and we are easy to keep down. No more shame!

Oddly, I've never experienced what she's describing, and km also black. To some degree, I think people just assume their hair will not be acceptable, and then treat it in order to fit into the assumption they came up with. Her boss asked what happened to her hair because it was different from what she normally does. But what's wrong with asking that question? Why must her first assumption be that he or she is being disrespectful (implied by the word "audacity")? This is the part I don't understand, personally. She should just do her hair however she wants to. Most people don't actually care and haven't cared for years at this point. Her hair is beautiful, and it would have been nice to see this post without the insinuation that she's been pressured to treat her hair purely for the benefit of others who don't have the same hair type. She should just be okay knowing that she may have imagined the pressure, and just post videos being happy with how she does her hair. Not everything has to be a race issue that points accusing fingers at other people. I mean, isn't it tiring?

@@B00gie- My point is exactly the opposite. Not everything is a race issue. And people can feel things that aren't happening. It's called misinterpretation. Imagine always assuming someone who is a different race from you is ALWAYS disrespecting you when they ask about some feature you possess that they don't. That's not normal. And if you think like that, I feel bad for you, because I know it's tiring. You end up seeing enemies all over the place, when it's all in your head. Are there racist in the world? Of course there are. But they exist in every race, and it's those people who make a huge deal out of skin colour that are the most racist. Give it some thought. Not everything is a race issue. Harmony is actually possible if we look past race.

I am a 62 year old Caucasian woman . When I was younger , all my African American friends wore their hair either with a perm or natural . NOBODY wore wigs . I've been watching the abundance of wigs being worn over the last 25 years & it makes me sad that this has become the " norm " . When I was in junior h.s. both girls and boys rocked huge afros with PRIDE . As a retired hairstylist myself , I am fully aware of the damage that excessive wig wearing can do . Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL with your spirals draping dramatically around your face .

Your curls are gorgeous! I'm embarrassed to say that it wasnt until I saw KZfaq videos, like this, I'd never realized the way some people treat black women about their hair. I've always loved the way black hair looks, and just assumed that black women had the same experience/privilege I did of wearing my hair however I want. I hope we as a society will stop dictating what they think is acceptable for black women. How you wear your hair is nobody's business but yours.😊🤗🥰

Unfortunately, much of it comes from other black women. I can't tell you how many times I heard black women call other black women "nappy-headed" to insult them when I was in the Army. A good friend wore her natural hair in an afro from the time I met her. One evening, I told her how pretty it was. She explained to me how much easier it was and how freeing it was to be able to get her hair wet in the rain or while swimming. It made me feel good for her that she was able to live more carefree and save hours of time to do other things she wanted to do. (I am totally hair lazy).

The comment she relays from her boss doesn't make it clear if it was criticism or curiosity. Wear a wig with straight hair, then suddenly come in with natural curls... It is noticeable. Anyone changing their appearance will get questions or comments.

Some people don't know anything about wigs. A lot of people just assume that's your hair because people do such a great job with wigs. It's not always a negative statement.
