Why Vim?

@@UserUnkownToAll Several reasons, but for me the #1 reason for using Vim is that all interaction is centered physically around the home row, which means I barely have to move my arms or bend my wrist. I also use a plugin for Firefox called Tridactyl that lets me browse the web using Vim keys, meaning that I can go for long periods without reaching for the mouse. I find this to be a vastly more comfortable way for me to use the computer, especially for long periods. #2 reason is that Vim can potentially move and edit text almost as quickly as you can think. Executing powerful and efficient movements in Vim is extremely satisfying, and makes coding pleasurable and joyful. I also don't rely on any plugins or functionality that is only available in VSCode or other IDE's, which would of course be non-negotiable for many people. Vim ("Neovim" in my case) can do everything I need it to thus far. There are also equally compelling, but different, arguments for Emacs, but the Vim philosophy suits me better. Anyway, I greatly appreciate the level of technique and usability Mosh is helping promote with videos like this.

@@UserUnkownToAll I have to add something: Whenever I'm using terminal sessions inside Vim, I sometimes find myself instinctively typing "vim foo.py" or whatever and accidentally doing a Vim-ception. I always laugh at myself and think "Yo Dawg! I heard you like terminals..."
