Seventeen is towards the middle of the show. JD has manipulated Veronica into helping him kill 3 people at this point. (Or technically, kill 2 and cover up 1) This is Veronica begging him to stop and telling him that she wants to be with him as long as he promises to give that all up. Later she realizes he’s too far gone and she’s let him get away with all of this.

I just got done with the first one, and I was like, "can't wait till he makes a part 2..." and instantly this comes out

The creator did say that one of the alternate endings that they considered is that Westerburg does blow up and the whole "Seventeen Reprise" sequence is them in the afterlife, adding a deeper meaning to the lines: "High school may not ever end", "Always be seventeen Celebrate you and I, Maybe we won't grow old and maybe THEN we'll never die!" and it's been stated by JD before that "the only place where Heathers and Marthas get along is in heaven", and what happens in the end? They get along. And I have a theory that at the end of "I am Damaged" in the alternate ending, when the students and teachers do react to JD's explosion and asking each other if they're okay; they're actually already dead and waking up in the afterlife as the dust clears, not knowing they've already passed because of how sudden the explosion was. They'll always be seventeen and high school will never end.

You should listen to the Beetlejuice musical next, it’s a show about death but life and death aren’t that different also lots of grieving

Just got done with "Meant to be Yours" and here's the explanation for the end incase it doesn't come up later- SPOILERS BELOW THE READ MORE: During MtbY, JD had just broken into Veronica's bedroom through her window, causing her to hide and lock herself in her closet. While he was singing and trying to convince her to come out, she came up with a plan on the fly: she took some sheets she had in the closet, hung them from something on the ceiling, and pretended to hang herself. When JD burst through the closet door, it looked like she had killed herself. He left, and the end was Veronica's Mom finding her "dead" daughter.

This is perfect example of a musical you HAVE TO watch in order

yeah for heathers especially, listening to the songs out of order will leave you very confused as to the plot. "dead girl walking (reprise)" comes right after "meant to be yours" and then the song after it, "i am damaged" kind of makes it a bit more clear also "beautiful" (the really long one) is the opening number and "seventeen" isn't the ending btu actually more towards the middle of the musical

Here’s some context (for the ones you’ve listened to) and the songs in order 1) Beautiful: introduction to the musical. Introduces the main cast consisting out of Heather Chandler (heather in red, leader of the popular girls), Heather duke (the heather in green, the meanest of the group and kind of the runner up when it comes to power), Heather McNamara (Heather in Yellow, she’s decent for being a popular girl), Kurt and Ram (two bullies), Martha (Veronica’s best friend) and ofc our main character Veronica. 2) Candy store: Heather C. has forced Veronica to forge an invitation note. She must then give it to Martha, so she thinks Ram had invited her to his homecoming party. The Heathers want this bc they found out Martha has a crush on Ram. 3) Fight for me 4) Freeze your brain: Veronica is send out to get some stuff from the store before going to Ram’s party. In the store, she meets Jason Dean (Often referred to as J.D. in the musical), a new boy in her school whom she had shortly talked to beforehand. She finds out some stuff about him, like the fact his mother died and he’s addicted to slushies. 5) Big Fun: the party’s happening. Martha’s about to be made fun of, but drunk Veronica stops this from happening. After this, she pukes on Heather C’s shoes and is basically in trouble. 6) Dead girl walking: after fucking up during the party, she decides to go to J.D.’s house. Where they have sex and she officially confesses her feelings for him. From there on, they’re a couple. 7) The me inside of me 8) Blue 9) Our love is God 10) Dead gay son 11) Seventeen: a lot has happened in the past few songs. But to keep it as spoiler free as possible, some awful things happened resulting in a few deaths, and somehow, Veronica and J.D. are in the middle of it all. Veronica wants J.D. to stop doing what he’s doing, and wants them to be able to live like other people of their age, aka, not being involved in murders. 12) Shine a light 13) Lifeboat 14) Shine a light (reprise) 15) Kindergarten Boyfriend 16) Yo Girl 17) Meant to be yours: at this point, Veronica has broken up with J.D., however, J.D. believes it’s the school, and society which have made her break up with him. So he decides to make a plan to blow up the school. He wants Veronica to be a part of this plan, and is desperate to get her back. As a way to escape this craziness, Veronica fakes her own suicide in the hope J.D. will leave her alone and stop his plan. Although he does leave, he decides to continue with what he’s doing. At the end of the song, her mom accidentally walks into the room where Veronica has “hung herself” 18) Dead girl walking (reprise): Veronica goes to stop J.D., who’s preparing the bomb. He had already notified the school of her death, hinch why Ms Fleming had already made a tribute. As for why she seems so casual about it all, let’s just say a lot has happened and she prolly does not care at this point. She goes to the boiler room, where the two have a fight. J.D. had a gun with him, but Veronica managed to grab it but ends up accidentally shooting him in the side. 19) I am damaged 20) Seventeen (reprise) Edit: the British version of this musical adds/replaces some of the songs. Usually, i only recommend the Broadway edition of musicals, especially if they’re a broadway original production, but i wanted to mention the song “I say no”, bc it gives some character development for Veronica (song wise) between her “i love you” song as in Seventeen, and JD’s “you’ve broken up with me so you must pay, or come back to me” song “Meant to be yours”. It’s also just a good song imo

for other songs, i recommend the new addition, 'i say no', from the west end version - it's honestly such a good song and i adore it so much. it works really well as an addition. i also recommend 'our love is god', 'i am damaged', 'lifeboat', and 'yo girl' as they're some of my faves - and i lowkey want to recommend 'you're welcome' which was added to make the show slightly more pg and is the song added for high school productions, mainly to replace the song 'blue' which was more of a comedic take on a scene in which the two bully jocks, kurt and ram, basically attempt to date r*pe veronica - now 'blue' is no longer performed in productions of the show and 'you're welcome' is in place of it - i personally prefer the 'you're welcome' compared to 'blue' altho 'blue' is much more catchy - which is bad considering the lyrics and context of the song.

You should definitely listen to the west end cast recording of this because everyone in it sounds incredible. There are also 3 new songs which are: Your Welcome - this one is replacing blue Never Shut Up Again - sung by a wonderful Heather Duke I Say No - a power song sung by Veronica Also Jamie Muscato singing Meant To Be Yours is just so incredible.

I would also advise listening to the West End version of Meant To Be Yours, it has a completely different vibe, Jamie is terrifying as JD

“i am damaged” and “me inside of me” would be great to do next!

SPOILERS alright, for those of you who were confused about seventeen reprise, here's the story j.d. was in the boiler room with the bomb, but also had a gun. in that scene where the students are chanting and then there's a bang, that's veronica and j.d. fighting over the gun. eventually, the gun goes off and shoots j.d.'s middle finger off. he realizes all the damage he's done and decides to die with the bomb. he does set the bomb off, but instead of blowing the gym up, blowing himself up. everything's happy again though, but i still cried idek why

The musical makes so much more sense when you listen to the songs in order, my man

ive been binge watching your musical vides and i love them all LMAO i do recommend listening to newsies (based off of the 1899 new york newspaper strike), legally blonde (its a musical too!), and falsettos (a quite dysfunctional family having to deal with love, loss and conflict which takes place during the AIDS epidemic), the three of those are my favorite musicals by far

what a song to begin with 😂 Also, for context, in "I Was Meant To Be Yours" Veronica fakes suicide to get away from JD.

The way you describe the music you hear and the videos you watch is so uplifting and happy!

I’m partial to this version with Barrett Wilbert Weed and Ryan McCartan, who perfectly embodied the Winona Ryder and Christian Slater characters from the film. Plus their vocals are just sublime.

Dead Girl Walking (Reprise) is definitely my favourite Heathers song closely followed by Meant To Be Yours, but still quite a bit ahead. so happy you did part 2, i adore Meant To Be Yours, Dead Girl Walking (Reprise), Beautiful and Seventeen sm

I love the different versions(off Broadway cast& west end cast) but in Meant To Be Yours the west end version you can feel the more crazier & anger then the off Broadway version. The girl who sings in off Broadway version also played Janis in mean girls musical on Broadway.

You should listen to The Phantom of the Opera songs! It’s so good! You should watch the musical as well. Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess are my personal favorites, so if you listen to/watch the musical, watch/listen to the 25th anniversary

Beautiful is actually the first song! which is also why its so long and why it was establishing veronicas motivations and those around her! And for part 3 i feel like you should do Fight For Me, Our Love Is God, Yo Girl, and I Am Damaged - I wanna say lifeboat too cause i absolutely love that song but all the songs are BOPS

For the end of Dead Girl Walking Reprise, the bomb didn't go off. That was a gunshot. Veronica just shot JD. Additionally, Seventeen takes place before JD planned to blow up the school. Veronica basically says "Stop killing or I'm breaking up with you" and Seventeen is him promising to start over and not hurt anyone, but he's still struggling with the idea of not killing people who do awful things. He only tries to blow up the school when Veronica dumps him, which basically pushes him over the edge. I think he wanted them to blow up the school and run away together, but then when he thought Veronica killed herself, he was planning to die with the rest of the school.

Another musical that is epic is Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. It has amazing harmonies and very unique instruments (the show literally opens with an accordion!!) And the rhythms are fantastic!! Some of my favorite songs from it are Prologue, Dust and Ashes, Preparations, The Private and Intimate Life, and Sonya and Natasha.

If you were thinking about listening to more Heathers I recommend finding the West End cast album and listening to the added songs "Never Shut Up Again" and "I Say No" they are great and were very needed (for character and plot motivation/plot furthering reasons) songs for the show and they slap!

I highly recommend either reacting to or watching the original movie Heathers in your time after you're done with the musical - the plot beats are similar but not exactly the same, and it has a slightly different feel to the musical for me. There's a reason it's considered a cult classic, and I think you'd enjoy even if there aren't any songs (also, young Winona Ryder!).

I’d recommend looking up the animatics to some of these songs, especially Dead Girl Walking (reprise)! There’s a lot of action without dialogue or lyrics that’s telling the story while the music does something else, which makes listening to just the soundtrack a bit confusing. Absolute banger of a song though

So you should definitely finish heathers. And then when you are done it would be cool if you reacted to the west end songs. Because there are 2 versions of heather’s. The original (the one you are listening to now) and the west end version. It’s mainly the same with some line changes and three added song which are Your Welcome (and it replaced blue), I say No, and Never gonna shut up again. I would also love a legally Blonde song reaction. Legally Blonde is done as the same people of heathers so there are a lot of similarities with the music feel.
