Mahalia at the Dentist and more!! I remember back when I 1st got this video I was so excited and happy I stayed up late all by myself and watched it alone being it seemed as if I was the only one who loved Mahalia Jackson. Anyway I regreted watching it all alone because it scared me so bad at the end!! After her funeral they have her singing: The Lords Prayer and its as if shes singing at her own funeral. She sang the song so awesome. it had me all in the Spirit about to cry and here I am all in the Spirit of the Lord next thing you know I jumped out of my skin!! The Spirit of the Lord left me so quick!!! They were so wrong for ending that video like that!! And I had the volume all turned up!! Yet today it still scares me!! lol I love the way she talks she reminds me of some of my old Ken Folks. And when she started talking about Neckbones, I was like oh my now thats my kind of food!! I think Ima ask my mamma to cook me some Smoked Neckbones with Potatos, I cant cook em like she can!! I remember one of my Aunts had love Neckbones so much she use to cook Baked Beans with Smoked Neckbones inside. I thought it was weird because we always had hotdogs, but it was sooo good!! Oh and dont forget to turn your volume up high. lol just kidding.

She could have been bigger than Aretha Franklin but her loyalty and love were for her Lord Jesus Christ. I remember the first time I heard her voice and I got goosebumps and cried with joy, a truly angelic voice.

True story: I met mahalia at my aunts house in1970; she was very humble and sweet. She asked for writing paper and a pen; gave my sister and me her address and telephone number said, if you ever need me, here's how you can reach me. We never called. It is truly touching that Mahalia felt it was her calling and she states she 'worked hard for the Lord", I don't think I've ever heard that from any of todays spiritual artist. Long are the days of people doing things purely out of love for mankind, her beauty goes unmasked, her souls if forever felt and her spirt is forever present. Thank you Necie for sharing...

A truly saintified woman of God. She used her voice to serve the Lord and didn't follow the dollars. So sad that she could not have children because of tumors. My entire childhood my mother taught me about Mahalia Jackson. Her songs were always present in our home.

Christina, not only was she one of your mother's favorite singers, she was the world's favorite gospel singers. I grew up listening to her and fell in love with her. There was no one that could move you like she did. Miss Mahalia was truly blessed by God. I was so lucky to have seen this daughter of Christ in my lifetime. My favorite song is Trouble of the World.

My God my God when she sang at the end I couldn't help but shed tears (of joy) especially when she got to "For thine is the kingdom" I got chills right away! My father remembered seeing her funeral procession when he was younger and how the streets were crowded with people. This woman right here is what a true servant of God looks like, u can just feel his holy spirit within her

Gospel, blues, opera, and classical and a heart to do God's will, wrapped in the body of Mahalia Jackson. So thankful for her music. And, to all the cameras that caught and filmed her. Still gives me goose bumps to hear her sing. That is where the power of God touches me.
