the issue with the first dress wasn't her body, it was that sample sizes are ridiculously tiny. Maybe they should have samples in more sizes.

It's really a matter of designers. Sometimes they don't make some dress designs in all sizes. You can see a picture from a dress that won't be availible in your size. Most of the time it's because they are made for a specific silhouette and body shape. Finding the right designer for you with the style you like can be very complicated.

I felt the consultant let the first bride down a little when trying to force her first choice to zip up. Yes, the sample dresses come in small, so clip it and explain properly that this is just an idea and it will look and fit better in her size. After that I think her confidence was shaken even if she liked the other dresses she tried. Other than that, if she is conscientious over her hips, then maybe don't go for hip hugging styles. The second bride gave me Dolly Parton vibes and looked stunning in the simpler, classy dress she chose.

It depends on your personality. Not everyone wants to be surrounded by Yes Men. Part of the value of having contrary opinions is it can help you broaden your perspective. You don't have to let it completely change how you feel or what you believe and I never got that vibe from her, seems like they were used to him being opinionated and it was an ongoing joke to them. Literally went to the mall with my gay Bestfriend yesterday, he picked out a fur lined coat he liked and I just straight up said no. He asked why (Key part) and I told him, “too long, washes your skin out and makes you look like a woman, if you’re going to pay $200+ at least make sure you look amazing” I picked out a dark dark navy neck fur coat and an olive green coat that he absolutely fell in love with as soon as he tried them on. And he looks bomb. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess it all depends on how close you are that you can just straight up say what your thinking

WHY do wedding dresses run so small? The average Anerican woman wears a size 14. I'd think as a business owner or wedding designer I'd want to make sample dresses in larger sizes (which can be clamped during shopping and once a bride has decided her measurements are sent to the designer's factory to be nade). I just don't get why sample sizes have to be so small that it prohibits women from even trying the dress on, let alone buying it.

I just think it’s because the models that wear them are a size 0 or 2. Which is still a problem today. At least at stores like this. Smaller bridal branches have more sample sizes for everyone. You shouldn't be embarrassed about buying a dress 3 sizes bigger then you wear. Who cares what size it is. First off, you're not three sizes bigger, and if it looks great that's all that matters. I take a size 6 in Jean's, well ,once they turned everything into the skinny jeans, and I couldn't get regular Jean's anymore, I take a 11 in one style, and 13 in another. Doesn't matter. I'm still the same size.
@decodolly1535
@decodolly1535 2 жыл бұрын
What I don't understand is, regardless what size a bride usually wears, if the consultants know bridal samples are "cut really small", why do they try to force the bride into a sample in her regular dress size, which will almost certainly be too small for her? Just fetch the next size up and then maybe there won't be the whole "Ooh it won't zip" drama, making the poor bride feel fat when she's not.
@shireads2954
@shireads2954 2 жыл бұрын
We use vanity sizing now, as in the average size of women has gone up, so they make the sizes bigger as well so we don't all feel like we're whales and the very slim girls now have 00 sizes. The bridal industry has not followed suit, so while Marilyn Monroe's 12 is more like today's 8, it's still a bridal 12. Wedding dresses are simply not changing with the trends. Just like if you buy a dressmaking pattern, you can't go with your high street size. You will end up making a dress that's far too small.
@littlemissmel88
@littlemissmel88 2 жыл бұрын
Along with what others have said, bridal gowns fit a much smaller range of measurements then street clothes. A size medium shirt has to fit many different body shapes and a range of sizes. Wedding gowns are based on your bust, waist, and hip measurements, and depending on the style you must use the biggest measurement and alter down the rest. For example, if you want a mermaid style and your waist and hips fit an 8, but your bust is a 10, you have to go with the 10. Size is a number that only you know unless you tell everyone. However, if you buy a dress "true to size", they will notice how ill fiting it is.

Kinda disappointing that a place as big and popular as Kleinfeld doesn't have sizes that cater to everyone. How do you expect a bride to purchase a gown that she doesn't even know what she's gonna look like in it? It's not even only about the sizes, many times they don't have colors and they're like "We want you to imagine this gown but in a different color" um why? Why do I have to imagine? It's not so hard to get a sample in every color and personally I would never order a gown without seeing exactly what it's gonna look like on me, both in shape and color.

I don’t think it was necessarily that. The bride basically said she liked everything which is too general to pull dresses. The reason she put her in that first dress was to help narrow down aspects of the dress that she did like so moving forward the next options would be more what the bride wanted. That being said the consultant could have just asked more questions like what do you want to feel like or whats your vision or the vibe of the wedding

I don't know this show. Do they only get to try on a limited number of dresses? I was hoping they would look at some more and I feel they would eventually find something that would satisfy them all... But I guess maybe the bride was not in the mood anymore...? Still, I feel if they tried a couple more after that third one, it's possible her spirits could be lifted back up, enough to forget how down she felt with the reaction to the see-through one. In any case, I would also disagree about 'if you see she likes it but you don't, be quiet'. Or something like that. 🤪 You're not really being a friend if you see something off and you keep quiet about it. Think of it this way: if the sister and the close friend has that reaction to the dress, then it's probably not far off to expect that other wedding guests (family and friends) would have a similar reaction when they see her. Maybe not all, but some probably would. And I think that's what the sister tried to say, though she maybe worded it differently or incompletely... She said I wonder what you would feel at the day of the wedding. In other words perhaps I wonder what you would feel on that day when people see you, or when you see people look at you...

@@suepost9026 Really, what they're there for is emotional support. Everyone's taste is different- I'd rather the bride get something she enjoyed wearing but maybe I wasn't so keen on than something I liked and she wasn't comfortable in. Again, it's about reading the room; sometimes you just have to have tact. No point breaking the bride's heart over a dress she loves because I don't like it when I'm not the one who has to wear it. @@saradecapua3264 Maybe you don't know how to style it? Try to dress it down and you could wear it on a daily basis by pairing it with a white t-shirt, jeans and nice shoes. Hair up and fresh face. Good Handbag and you're done. Just a suggestion. Or what's the matter?

The first bride ...this is a classic case of go it alone to dress shopping, the last dress she tried on was stunning. When I get married I'm going dress shopping on my own, then when I find the dress that I love I will turn up on the day and feel good.

The first time my Daughter and I went dress shopping was a horrible visit. The staff acted like they didn’t care if you were there or not. They just told us to find a dress from some of their collections. She and I meandered and went to pull a couple of dresses we were led to a very small room. My Daughter put it on and went out to the pedestals with her dress on (with no help at all) so we went then but had to wait for a girl already up there. Let me tell you what that girl literally looked like a Miss America contestant. So my Daughter was ready to go after seeing it. But a few weeks later she found one that made her feel beautiful. When the wedding came along and her daddy did a first look and he turned around he could not contain himself. Crying because his baby girl was so beautiful. When it got time for her daddy to walk and her then to be husband lost it. He was literally sobbing. I’m talking audibly sobbed. It was a beautiful wedding. Sorry for the long post.

I felt sympathy for the first bride. Her sister and "friend", Benoit, were so critical. It seemed like they were eager to be mean. This bride doesn't have the confidence in herself and her figure to choose a dress. She and her groom-to-be should elope and throw a party. That way the critical couple and sit in a corner and be Negative Nellys all they like. Now the second bride was adorable. Southern brides are either very decisive or waiting for a sparkle. I am glad Randy did the whole shebang. She looked gorgeous!

I thought Benoit was looking out for her, perhaps as her friend he knows she has a tendency to get carried away in the moment and then regret things later? After all a dress like that is one thing in the shop but could be quite another when you look back at your wedding photos, and also how do you plan the rest of your wedding round that? It could just look silly once she's surrounded by bridesmaids in traditional dresses or little flower girls or page boys, or whatever it is she wants. Maybe if she's going for a less traditional affair it would be good and a fun, quirky way to go, but what if she's going to be surrounded by ancient aunties in their best two-pieces in the village church? I'm afraid we don't know the whole story but I bet Benoit does.
